I want to see if there is a correlation between drinking coffee and losing weight. I work in an office where everyone sits on their ass all day, we have unlimited free coffee, and all of my coworkers are reasonably skinny.

I work for a large corporation with about 6,000 working in this building. I would say that most people who work here are overweight, and, we have free coffee.

Black coffee=5 calories.

The idea for this thread came to me while I was having my daily shit. Coffee makes me shit a lot, and I'm thinking that has some kind of effect on how efficient my digestion is. If stuff is quickly flushed through the system, less of it can be broken down and used.....

The other part is that caffeine is a hardcore stimulant and appetite suppressant.

I think the quality of coffee should also factor in.

We have mostly non-obese workers, and unlimited coffee that, I maintain, must violate OSHA regulations in some manner.

Seeing fat people throughout my day brings me down.

We have "coffee clubs" where you have to pay to drink the coffee.

Ususal cubicles with mixed sized peoples in here. We have to pay $1 for a coffee.

Us youngsters (less than 35) are not fatties and mostly "in shape". Older peeps have bellies except for a few.

Some companies are run by retards who desperately want the company to fail. Hmm should we pay $100 per month to give ridiculously strong stimulants to our employees so they have high morale all the time and work harder? Nah, let's just wait for them to fall asleep at work then fire them! :awe:

If I ran a company, I would lobby to make meth legal then give that to my employees once it was legal. They would get quite good at boring repetitive tasks. Engineering and law are filled with that kind of stuff; I spent the past 3 hours counting wires on schematics.

But the fat people get coffee too. They also load it up with heavy cream and sugar. The rest of us drink it black (and some use splenda).

who provides the free coffee in the typical cubicle-type environments where most ATOTers work? I'm just curious, as I'm in a rather a-typical place in the ATOT world.

we have a large office of post-docs and grad students, et al, and the coffee isn't exactly free--there is an uber espresso machine, that those who use are to keep stocked by rotating beans and milk/cream...whatever is needed. It's cheap, yes, but couldn't really call it free.

anyway, quite a lot of skinny folk, "mostly free" coffee.

Free coffee, free soda, free juice, etc.

Most people are fairly athletic, although there a few fatter guys. You'll notice the fat guys drink regular sodas.

It also seems like the higher ups in the company all drink enormous amounts of Diet Coke. Anybody else seen trend like that?

Coffee is a natural laxative

It would be much easier to hire a onsite physician and prescribe adderall to everyone.

I said fat with no free coffee. We have some thin people here, but lot of beer bellies. No morbidly obese. Office pooled together to pay for a Keurig.

At my last job, we had free everything. Restocked biweekly, mmmm private sector. Everyone was pretty thin though.

free coffee, free soda, free milk(all varieties), free gatorade(canned), free oj, free v8, free snapple. Office full of "healthy" weight individuals but otherwise slightly overweight barring a few exceptions.

Our coffee isn't free, but it's cheap. Like 50 cents per cup. The office is mostly made up of skinny, or at least reasonably fit people.

office of mostly skinny people (our super fat guy transferred to another office, he had his stomach reduced before he left so he wasn't that fat anymore)...

no free coffee. IIRC there is a coffee club called "the daily grind" that i didn't get into. it's $5/month. i like tim horton's so i go there.

There really shouldn't be much of a correlation... caffeine in the form of coffee is not a miracle drug that causes people to stay skinny.

And the premise is all wrong. If you want to find out if there is a correlation between coffee and weight loss you should be asking if people drink coffee or not and if they are overweight depending on their answers. Whether the coffee is free or not at the office doesn't mean anything since everyone drinks coffee whether or not they work in an office that offers it free.
