are you kidding??? every other post from a lefty in a health care thread states that European countries have better health care than the US, so why cant the US be like them?

That's nice, but doesn't approach the level of "Let's be like Europe". They accept 2+2=4 too, gonna change that?

In a year this thread will be titled, "Are you watching America implode?"

Hopefully the people will wake up and kick out the loser Democrats and put in their place some spendthrift people

The Democrats have been better than the Republicans. Better start a new Party.

So what exactly is a lefty trying to imply when they state that European healthcare is so great???

Most normal people would assume that they want the US to have a similar universal health care system...

So please explain how is that not wanting to be like Europe???

That it is in fact, great or at least better. This ain't Rocket Science, the facts are there for all to see. Coming to the logical conclusion does not mean full out, "let's do everything they do!"

So is that United States experiment, and for the same reason!

Granted, we've a 200 year history together so we won't pull out at the first sign of trouble, but all ropes have their end. Entitlements collapsing has got to leave one hell of a mark on a nation.
That's why, if things get bad in Europe, we can see how smart Americans really are; if they can learn from that lesson or whether they'll dismiss it as irrelevant. If they can learn, they'll take a modification of the economy before it is forced and the pain will be less.
Hopefully the people will wake up and kick out the loser Democrats and put in their place some spendthrift people
The US hasn't had a spendthrift government in decades, certainly not Republicans.

You'd need a President and 60 reliable votes in the Senate. Good luck with that.

Negative. The hugest part of the budget is entitlements like social security, medicare/medicaid and welfare. This is why we're next. We're trying to follow in the proven failures of socialism as can be seen in Eurpope.

And you don't think any businesses profit from Medicare and Medicaid?

The problem with some of you Republicans is you are so adamant in opposing socialism, you don't notice the corporatism. An arguably worse system.

This crisis or another. Europe lacks the stamina to fend off situations that require coordination.

Remember Bosnia ? All European nations waited and debated while there was bloodshed a few 100km to the nearest EU border

Unfortunately Eu dream has become the playtoy of Germany and France. You can not have a common currency if you don't exercise central power over individual countries economic choices and decisions. You can not become a world power even if the smallest country has a veto power against a unilateral decision.

I disagree. At least with corporatism you can become a corporatist and prosper. Under socialism everyone suffers.

The great illusion of corporatism and the rightwing, that *you* get to be the guy with his boot on everybody else's neck... that *you* will be one of a very few who prosper as wealth and power are further concentrated...

Take a reality check- figure that it won't be...

Nice Strawman, no one says that.

I really, seriously hope you're trying to be sarcastic. Vat Tax? Universal Health Care? And so on, and so on. Tell me you're joking. In each and every instance above you can go and easily find links of the news media pointing out the european programs.

Go ahead. Just tell me your joking.

QFT

Not to mention no one is saying we should become completely socialist country. Another thing I get tired of hearing is we are either a free market capitalist country or a socialist country and there is nothing in between.

EVERY first and many second world countries have these programs, including the US. Just because they were poorly managed by some doesn't mean parts of the programs were not good.

Corporatism and socialism are both creations by the left wing. Too bad you're too stupid to realize.

Keep telling yourself that... I suppose you'll claim that Mussolini was a "Leftist"...

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."
- Benito Mussolini

He systematically murdered every real leftist his blackshirts could find in his rise to power...

Unless you're talking about something else you'd like to call "corporatism"...

No, you Republicans have been in on it, too. You just lie and call it free markets. They lie and call it socialism. What's worse is you both not only believe in your own lies, but the others' too.

Perfect example: mandating people buy health insurance from private companies.

Considering that Dems never even put a truly socialist proposal on the table, it probably means they're not socialists at all...

That's ok, the Republicans have never put a truly capitalist proposal on the table. :D
