I read what you wrote, but I can't understand what "headshots" have to do with PC gaming.Nice language. Now try actually reading what I said. I love your screen name, BTW.
you're not the only one. console games for the most part are lame, minus platformers like mario and the cutesy stuff. any serious gaming is on the PC. that said, i haven't played a new PC game that i've liked in a long time either. i'm still playing warcraft 3.
I think you might surprise yourself if you try it for an extended period. I'm a longtime UT ladder gamer and a very strong advocate for the mouse/kb control scheme, but I have a few PS3 games that stray into FPS territory and they are still awesome. It's true that the controller is a far inferior device in terms of aiming and as a result I sacrifice the ability to pull off amazing headshots while moving. On the other hand, that means that stealth and cover mechanics actually become necessary and after you get used to it the whole thing the controller just feels really slick for the games that get it right. Uncharted2 and Killzone2 are simply two of the best games I've ever played and I would hate to have missed them completely because of the control scheme. It just feels clunky and awkward. I've never owned and FPS for a console, but I have played a couple dozen demos (some of them over and over), including a few multiplayer demos and it just feels strange.
I may be a cry baby, but I just can't see myself getting used to it and I don't know why.
I guess if you only like games from those three genres then it makes sense, as long as you are willing to skip the few really great action/adventure FPS games that are console exclusives each year. However, I agree with you that ultimately good games are good regardless of their platform. Consider how silly some of the following complaints from this thread sound applied to other games:Dumac said:I don't see how anyone could limit themselves to the PC and cross out consoles altogether, unless all they played is MMOs, FPS, or RTS.
I didn't make it through MGS4 (yawn) but other PS3 exclusives that I would recommend are Infamous (better version of Prototype), God of War collection (1 and 2), Uncharted 2, and Valkyria Chronicles if you're interested in SRPGs.Mindcycle said:And bought the PS3 for Demons Souls, which was also totally worth it. Other games I have enjoyed on the 360 are Forza 2 (haven't gotten 3 yet), Skate 1 and 2, and Halo 3. Picked up MGS4 for cheap on the PS3 and have recently been playing through that. I played it for about 2 and 1/2 hours last night, which only consisted of about 30 mins of actually playing the game.. Those of you who've played it know what i'm talking about.. lol
It's just an elitist attitude that some of you have with PC gaming. I love PC gaming and dump too much money into it but love console gaming as well. Both are great and I welcome both as well. The only problem I have is consolizing PC games.
I also play computer games and very much enjoy them. In fact, when I play computer games I can get headshots, too. However, I'm not so ignorant as to think that is the one and only thing that matters in gaming. As a result I enjoy gaming as a whole far more than you, I'm sure.
I'm pretty much uninterested in all games right now. There are only so many "yearly sequel to big-budget game with fancy graphics and eight hours of gameplay" you can take, and that's really all that's coming out any more. More of the same...unless you count Wii-Waggle minigame shovelware as something "different". 😛
It's not like the PC is any better either. It has WOW, a bunch of WOW-wannabes, and (usually) shoddy ports of console games. Wahoo? 🙄
That's very wrong. I coulld post a long list of PC titles contradicting your claim but the fact you said it implies to me it wouldn't do any good.
Why are you stalking me in other forums? Go back to P&N! Shoo, comrade!
I am not the only one to echo this sentiment, but the fact that...you are Craig234 implies to me that it wouldn't do any good to point this out in any greater detail.
I much prefer seeing "This message is hidden because Craig234 is on your ignore list.", but sometimes I get curious as to what our crazy comrade is up to. 😛
For some players (snipers), it already is.When the end-goal of all games becomes one's ability to snipe from 1,000 yards away with a headshot you'll be right.
It's not so much that they "just work", it's that your average user doesn't know how to install games, update their system, set settings (in time, this will probably be a moot point), or even knows what hardware is their PC is running. A PC game too can "just work" if it's ran on well maintained, capable PCUntil then console games sell SO well because, simply, they work
This point I agree with. Although, I [think I] get what the OP is trying to get across. Younger gamers are more likely to play on consoles whereas the average PC Gamer is a bit older.Console games aren't just for kids:
Not always. There's actually been a few games (UT3, CoD MW2, Wolfenstein, L4D2, etc.) that have been released for the PC at the same time as for the consoles and some (ETQW, DA:O [for PS3 at least], etc.) that were released for the PC months before the consoles. It's more of a trend, than a rule. It really depends on the developer (ie. is the PC version ported by a third-party), engine, publisher (ex: Gears and Halo) ,etc. Hell, last console generation, the consoles would get PC ports several months or up to a year after the PC release (Doom 3, FEAR, Hl2, CS, etc.).Console games also enjoy a significant early release period for many high profile games (examples off the top of my head = GTA IV and Mass Effect).
Then of course, there are games on the PC that you miss out on entireley. 🙄 Every platform is going to have it's exclusives. Then, of course, there are the games that are exclusive to consoles which you miss out on entirely.
What the shit does this have to do with anything? Someone obsessing over aiming can tear through games just as quickly as you can. You act like obsessing over aim prevents someone from playing the game. Also, if the console game has jsut as much customization of the controls as the PC version, the console player would be jsut as obsessive over the aim as a PC player since: better aim = better performance. So while you're obsessing over aim down to the accuracy of a pixel, I've already beaten the game on my Xbox 360 and moved on to the next great game.
Hogshit. You can build (or buy) a PC to be used with a TV. One of my friends had a PC hooked up to a 60 inch LCDTV.For the control, you can set a wireless KBM on a TV tray or those lapboards (I don't know what they're called) in Office Max. You can use a controller also. 😛I'm also playing these games on a MUCH bigger screen and with an audience of friends and family because I'm playing on a couch... not a chair in the corner of a room.
If you do, you're not very knowledgable of them.I also play computer games and very much enjoy them.
You want a cookie? Even <8 year olds can get headshots in games. In fact, when I play computer games I can get headshots, too.
I've never met one person (real life or a game/forum) that thought that headshots were the only thing that mattered in gaming. Still, if the person cares about headshots, that's not going to inhibit someone's ability to enjoy a game or gaming in general. However, I'm not so ignorant as to think that is the one and only thing that matters in gaming. As a result I enjoy gaming as a whole far more than you, I'm sure.
No interest here but the wife has been bugging me all year to buy a Wii system. I'd rather spend the money on something else.
