The big election is only a matter of days away. We are going to pick the next POTUS. He or she could positively or negatively affect our country for generations to come.

The shit storm has only just begun, no matter who wins.

Totally agree with you on this.

With Hillary winning, it seems to me the Repubs are going to double down on their obstruct at all costs scheme out of sheer spite. They totally ruined their chances at a clean shot for the presidency and they are going to take it out on their favorite "email deleter".

First item up is, of course, their plan to limit Hillary to a single term as it was with Obama by obstructing every single thing she and the Dems come up with. Concurrently, they will generate multiple "select committees" dealing with Hillary's emails and somewhere along the line the Repubs will impeach her for good effect. They will dog her with these meaningless ploys using them as leverage to advance their (who knew?) desire to implement the same economic and social policies that Bush and Cheney used to bring the nation to its knees.......again.

Should Trump win (as if) most if not all of the policies that favored the very wealthy under the Bush-Cheney Corporate Plan for America will rear its ugly head again, thus creating a storm of its own: a really nasty one that the middle class and the poor will have to bear the burden of and suffer from the results thereof.....again.

Those of us up north are just watching the show and giggling amongst ourselves. It's entertaining, but the novelty has worn off. Thank god our election seasons are only a couple months long.

The biggest problems are the already-made threats to not allow for Clinton to make any appointments. And it's not just the USSC, but District and Appellate courts, where there are already a ton of open positions that haven't been filled under Obama.

Thus confirming the Repub's running policy whereby if they can't own *it or control *it, then nobody will.

*It ---> anything and everything.

If Dems take the Senate, that won't be possible except for SCOTUS picks. The filibuster no longer applies to other appointments. Dems may go even further to alter Senate rules wrt the various holds that members can place on nominations. If not, you may be correct.

That's if they take the Senate and get rid of the filibuster.

Senatorial Courtesy and all that is in play for the many vacancies just sitting there, being vacant.

I'm a little worried about the Senate maybe, as for the Presidential race I think Drumpf threw that a few weeks ago.

A look out the window will reveal the same glorious universe that has always been there. He whose head is bowed sees the universe through God's eyes. There is only love.

If Dems take the senate maybe a little will get done. They likely won't though. We're looking at four more years of stagnation. Possibly more.

Well we have a president that says he is a president for all Americans. Then we have a democratic presidential candidate who says the same thing. Yet they will fill scotus and other federal judgeships with the most activist liberal judges that can be found.

So I am not seeing a problem here.

You seem conflicted in your posting from the first sentence to the second.

Perhaps I missed something ?

I'm not seeing a problem either especially if you're faced with a do nothing obstructionist congress that won't try to repair bad laws and regulations.

Basically, and it can be said without over-exaggeration, your political system, this abstruse two-party system, is 100% DEFUNCT. (I mean the *race* itself should give this away...)

What does it take that you guys are actually getting a real gvt (a gvt where for example coalitions are possible), as opposed to your current system where 90% of what's happening is that X obstructs Y, as opposed to that the nation is actually governed and things are actually getting done?

** As for your scenario of a Trump win, the "advantage" there would be (for those in power) that this is actually as intended. The "beauty" of it is also if the poor and middle-class get fucked (like they did in the past), they won't "get it" anyway. They will again blame "the establishment" (or Jose, or the Jews, or whatever made-up thing) for their lives and vote the next Trump in the next elections. The poor getting fucked over benefits the Right, it's their life that they breathe.

Dems chances in the Senate look good-

Well, Repubs have stalled Obama's picks, reasonable picks made to garner their approval. If Clinton's are more radical with a Dem Senate, they'll regret being total assholes the last two years. The whining & sniveling could be epic.

They're not in Washington to help run the govt but rather to break it. The American people deserve better.

That dastardly US Constitution, giving the President the responsibility of appointing Article III judges!

Clarence Thomas replaced Thurgood Marshall, yet I'm sure you're A-OK with that.

Protip: just repeating the talking points you've been trained to repeat isn't an argument.

The fact that Repubs chose the petty intellect of Thomas to replace the towering one of Thurgood Marshall reflects their contempt for all of us.

Man I am really nervous. CNN and 538 reporting gains for trump. Race is really very tight. 4 battleground states shifting towards trump including NH and Maine as per CNN... Crap! Like herpes he is making a comeback when you least expect it.

I mean if you consider the most optimistic assessment for Trump to be him losing 2/3rds of the time I guess it's very tight. 538's tight forecast is basically the result of them weighing the probability of a systematic polling error and assuming that it will be highly correlated across all states.

That's still way too high. 50% is coin flip chance. They have him at like 30%. That is an unacceptable amount of risk for the gravity of the situation.

His odds on 538 are down today from where they were yesterday and the day before.

Problem for Trump is if they go into election day tied, all of the early voting occurred while he was way down. He's got a lot of ground to make up to counter that.
