I am. I never thought I'd make it to 47. I'm constantly reminded by people I haven't seen in decades on facebook..."holy shit, you are still alive?"
Seems like a weird thing to be proud of. For me, I mean. Not you.
I've got an acquaintance who kind of reminds me of you, back when he hit forty he said that if he'd known he was going to live this long, he'd have taken better care of himself. He did a bunch of drugs and such in the 80s too.
The pig roast and kegger is planned for my 30th next year. All of ATOT is invited. Even Mayne.
What could possibly go wrong??

Nah. I was extremely anti-social in HS, major social anxiety. Nerds weren't cool yet, back in the late 90's. Kinda wish I could go back to high school now, where being techie is "in"![]()
Between the video card sub, the politics board, and any of the Jewish and Muslim board members you offended with your pork offering I think there would be casualties![]()
I did both (I'm a bit older than both of you), but playing guitar probably helped, and my anti-social "GFY" attitude worked pretty well since this was during the height of the grunge scene. We must be similar in age...however I wasn't a techie back then, so I went to parties and was cool.
Being 47 and alive IS an accomplishment for Mayne...A person should be proud for their personal accomplishments, not so much the things that happen entirely out of their control. Like race/nationality/family name etc.
People are probably going to start getting participation medals and trophies just for making it to their birthday every year.
