Are you conscious when you get up to pee at night?

I discovered yesterday that I may be walking to the bathroom and doing it unconsciously sometimes (a form of functional sleep walking?), though I usually am semi-conscious when I need to get up and pee. :hmm:
 
Yes, barely. Just don't fall asleep sitting down on the pisser. You'll wake up, get up thinking you've only been there a few minutes when it's more like an hour. And your legs are totally asleep.

And then you stand up on two legs that are totally numb and then you come crashing down like a huge sack of potatoes.

I peed on the wall instead of the toilet once. I woke up mid-stream and used a towel to clean up after finishing up in the toilet :\
 
So this guy I know slouches over to the pisser half asleep, eyes closed n all and starts pissing away. "Honey, what are you doing?"... Yup, his wife just happen to be taking a piss at that exact moment and gets it good. Suffice to say she closes the door now. 😀
 
Semi awake. I'm pretty sure I've peed on two of our cats in the middle of the night. You're going and everything is good and then you hear a gap in the stream and a cat running away.
 
I have a rather large bladder. I can't remember the last time I had to get up in the middle of the night to pee. I would have to drink like a gallon before bed.

As for me I'm awake. I get my job done and go back to bed. I also do not use the lights as my night vision is good enough that I don't miss.

I think when you are young that is how it works. the old guys have to get up in the middle of the night to pee as the prostate gland starts going south.

As long as I can remember, I've had to get up and pee. Have a few beers and I might as well sleep on the toilet.
 
um yeah, otherwise there would be piss all over the floor, and likely in the wrong room.

what you're experiencing is called being "half-asleep". ever heard of it?
 
It has been more or less agreed upon that the mind doesn't really remember the 5 or so minutes before/as you actually translate into sleep. You figure that combined with the transition stage of waking up it would be really easy for your body to kinda skip over the 3 minute pee break.
