Damn, I'm only 1 out of 18?? Can't be right. Males (who make up a majority of the forum) are frequently colorblind and these results are not consistent with the populace at large.

I am almost totally blind to the differences in red and brown. I can tell a bold red from a bold brown, but when those colors exist in a natural, toned-down state, I can't tell them apart. I gather that they make contact lenses that correct color blindness, but I consider the hassles of contacts too much to justify. Color blindness really doesn't affect your day-to-day activities because you don't know any different.

That test is brutal. In at least half of the tests, I can't see anything but a field of dots....no numbers, letters or lines. I've taken these tests as a kid and remember how surprised my doctor was when I told him I couldn't see anything. I suppose I see in 16-bit and the normal person sees in 32-bit. :(

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Guess who is Red/Green deficient? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! :( I can see the numbers on the first three. After that, it's just a buncha'dots. :| This is not a surprise to me, as I've know about my deficiency for quite awhile, now.

Interestingly enough, I have zero probs telling a yellow wire from a red wire from a green wire. No probs at all. When hooking up car stereos, the wires are frequentlly "pastel colors" shades of their primary colors. I have no probs w/those either.

The only "color probs" I have are when I actually take these damn tests. DAMN YOU, ACTUAL TESTS!!!! Damn you to blazes! Arrrrrgh! *stomps on monitor displaying dots.....*

So far Chrono, Mithrandir2001, and MichaelD said they were colorblind, yet only 2 people said yes. I guess the people who are colorblind are too embarassed to admit it.

if i remember right, men are much more likelier to have color vision deficiencies than women since the color bind genes are recessive and on the sex chromosome....

I just voted yes, to make Lunotick happy, but technically I am NOT colorblind. Colorblind means that you see only in black and white; that's not the case, in my instance. I see color just fine, it's only those stupid tests that I screw up.

Do you think that the quality of your monitor has anything to do with this test. I was able to see them all with ease, but i'm wondering about people with crappy monitors.

the numbers that i have heard for number of people that are colorblind is 1 out of 6 males and 1 out of 120 females have some type of colorblindness. most are just a mild deficiency. i have a stronger deficiency then others.

what are you talking about? colorblind does not mean you see just black and white. there are many types of colorblindness and i have never heard of someone just seeing black and white. i myself have a red-green deficiency and i see as many colors as everyone else (just i see them differently).

i don't think this will effect most people unless they have a mac se30 or some other old b/w monitor.

Colorblind. Red-green (mild deuteranomalia). Interestingly enough, I can tell the difference between red & green but I have a real problem with shades of green vs. shades of brown. CAT5 wire specifically, some brands I have no problems with and some I have to 'study' very hard to tell them apart. It's a major pain.

That's bs. On some, it indicated that I was somewhat red-green color blind. On others, it said that I shouldn't be able to see the numbers if I *was* red-green color blind, but I could. So, I am both red-green color blind and not red-green color blind. Is this the physiological analog of Schrödinger's cat?

Similar to MichaelD, I have no problem seeing red or green. I only have problems picking out things in these tests. As these tests never seem to appear in the normal course of my day, I think I'll be fine...
