Are you as tough as this guy?

Sluggo

I work in construction. Last Thursday, one of our guys who does framing work cut off his thumb with a power saw. He didnt just nip the end of it or something, he cut off the whole thing, and they were not able to re-attach it. This was last Thursday.

He was back at work TODAY, doing his usual job, without any pain medication. I told him he is the toughest SOB I know. :Q

He is a really great guy, had a wonderful attitude and everything, said he got bored at home. He was trimming trees at home yesterday.

Now I think I might still be home, crying in my beer over the loss of my good buddy the thumb.

Do you think you could recover mentally and physically as quickly as he did?

Absolutelty not, I'd still be at home wondering what hit me and when would I wake up from that dream. :Q

I really have to admire him for his gumption. I wish him well. 🙂

Shoot! Not me! I'll be crying my heart out over a six pack! BECAUSE THAT'S MY THUMB FOR CHIRST'S SAKE!!!

<< That's the def'n of a real man. Which I am not by the way...I had to get surgery 😉 >>

:Q

ummmmm Mabye he just aint smart enough to know that that would FREEKIN HURT.... I Mean if he was stupid enough to get his thumb in the way & all....

one more accident like that and this guy wont be able to hit the spacebar. now that would make me cry.

<< I Mean if he was stupid enough to get his thumb in the way & all.... >>

Its certainly not about being stupid. Its about inattention. This guy probably made 300+ saw cuts a day, 5 days a week, for probably the last 20 years. It is very easy to become comfortable using tools that can take your arm off. Yet it only takes about
1/2 second of not paying attention, anybody who has been hurt badly will tell you that same thing.

I could tell you some really gory stories of people I have seen get hurt at work.

Another vote for weeping. I would be at home crying on the couch. Then I would reach for my drink and I wouldn't be able to pick it up because I have no thumb, more crying would ensue.
