I have a $3.85 postage stamp im gonna put on a priority flat rate envelope. THe only problem is, the stamp was used on another regular envelope, and was ripped off..I cut off al the excess paper , but there is still paper behind the stamp...am I allowed to tape this to the envelope?

it has no markings though..it hasnt been used, it has just been on another envelope....so I can use it okay...I dunno why but I thought i read somewhere awhile ago that you werent alloowed to tape down postage stamps even if they havent been used.

They might not accept it. I know i taped over once and they didnt accept it. You would be better off sticking a little glue behind it instead.

heck ive gotten mail w/o any stamp on it or metering or anything, theyd only look to see if it has been used priorly. youre good to go. lemme know!

yes you can, I have... as long as they have been stamped themselves... and he is referring to the priority postage. he'll be fine.

thats what i mean, theyd be able to tell it hasnt been used before, you're fine.

No, you cannot!!!! I've done it before and I've had letters returned to me. Do not tape down your stamp.

Some used stamps don't have markings on them. Glue + careful ripping = reuse! 😉

Edit: That's hypothetically. I don't use snail mail.

if you do this, make sure the postage stamp can be cancelled this time. most postal employees will let it go eve with tape if they can cancel it, so in a worst case scenario, tape around the edges, but i would recommend a glue stick.

I have the simple and easy answer!!!

If the postage was never used you can bring it to the post office with another package and tell them to apply the postage to it... it's all barcoded and whatnot so you if it never got used the computer knows.

I use the USPS for almost all my shipping anymore... they are just so handy.

exactly what i said.... 😀, but the tape around the edged will work most of the time unless you happen to get an a$$hole in the plant, and their of them. use a glue stick.

crazyfool - the op is talking about the 3.85 stamp, which has no barcode, it is just a big a$$ stamp, like the .37 ones but about 3x as large, usually has the space shuttle on it if i remember correctly.
