nope, no problem at all for me, heh, well besides calling a girl, i still get a bit nervous around that, but other than that i'm fine......my bro though, he's terrified....not sure why, just a fear, but his communication skills in general arne't that hot...

I take such a brow beating from my family because I prefer not to talk on the phone. 😱

I don't mind using the phone if for business purposes (part of a job, etc..) and if I know what I'm talking about.. I hate hanging around on the phone with girls and making calls without preparing for them first. I hate leaving messages too.

Not at all, in fact I guess I'm like one of those teenage girls that stay on the phone for hours on end... 😱

Love getting calls (when they're for me, of course) ...

But hate having to make calls ... I hate having to order pizzas, talking to strangers or even friends' parents (even when they are incredibly nice people).

Go figure

The telephonetic world is quite scary to me

I cringe at the thought of busy signals, answering machines, and phone sex

Help me Ms. Cleo Help!

I am not afraid of using the phone at all, but I freely admit to being horrible at phone conversations.
I just find it so awkward(no clue why) that I run out of things to say and I stumble on words and generally end up making a complete doof of myself. This remarkable quality runs in my family, apparently. Though we are all great conversationalists in person.
In fact, the ONLY person I can have a semi decent phone conversation with is Optimus himself, and even those suck for the poor guy. Probably why we don't engage in dirty talk on the phone, He'd just groan and say: "not right now, hon, I uh...have a headache!" 😛😉

<< i absolutely hate phones. it takes a lot of preparing to do before i make any phone calls. and as far as calling women....pftt, it takes me at least a month to get the balls to do that.🙁 >>

I get calls from/call girls all the time. What's so hard about it?

Calling to get RMA or obtain warranty service absolutely terrify me, because I know I'd have to put up with their bull sh!t questions(is it hooked up?, is it connected to the power?, did you install the driver?, are you sure you have the right hardware?) when I already knew what's wrong with it and they insist that there is nothing wrong with the product. MSN refuse to replace my DSL modem(Intel 2100), even though there is a known problem. They insist that it is my driver/computer/software.

<< I know that a lot of people who are not even all that shy seem terrified of using a telephone for things even as small as ordering a pizza or calling a cab. Why is this? Are you such a person and if so how do you feel about it? Do you force yourself to use the phone to try to overcome this fear? >>

I really enjoy talking on the phone to strangers. I'm not afraid, and, of course, I'm not shy.

hmm.. it seems like IMing has made people even more shy now
it's so easy to hide behind a computer and type anonymously.. people are too used to that that even talking on the phone is scary now

I don't really like to call for pizza or chinese or anything like that. I'm not really afraid, but I hate having to repeat GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN 8 times because they call it "General Chicken" and once you throw in an accent, "General" and "Chengdu" sound alike.
I occasionally get into arguments with Dominos people because they'll either put me on hold indefinitely or give me some load of bull that they don't deliver if you call from a cellphone, so I don't like to talk to them. I prefer Papa John's and I can order on-line and be reasonably assured they'll get the order right.

I also hate talking to salespeople.

I also prefer e-mail for two reasons:
I can compose my thoughts thoroughly, which helps in an argument and I have a half-decent written record of what was said.
If I call someone and they say "I'll have it done by Friday, May 10th" and I call on May 10th and ask why it's not done, they can say "No, I said May 17th" and how do you know if maybe you were mistaken or he lied to you?
If someone e-mails me and says "May 10th" when I call them on the 10th and they try to say it was the 17th, I have a record that they said 10th, whether they meant to or not.
