You are a moronic troll and I hope your fingers fall off.

So is that the max limit for hostile threats?

Cuz I dont know.

Anyway, I just went to walmart. Took me forever to find what I wanted and then at checkout all the lines were hella long. And my line had an incompetent check out girl.

I prefer Harris Teeter even though its more expensive.

How are you saving hundreds of dollars a month?

At most you will save 20%. So if you saved $200, you are spending $1,000 a month there.

What the fuck are you buying?

A lot of stuff is far cheaper than 20% less, the Pb I buy is $4.85, at Target the only other place I've found the same size Skippy Natural jar it's around $7. I eat 3-4x what a normal person does, so me saving $250-$300'ish isn't uncommon.

HEB Plus/Central Market > Whole Foods > Natural Grocers >(huge gap)> Trader Joes > Sprouts > Costco > every other dirty peasant grocery store

Man, they built one a street over from our old apartment within months of us moving. Closest one now is ~30 miles away.

Granted there is a Plus and a new Whole Foods 10 or so minutes away, but there's just something special about Central Market.

Again, your argument that Meijer is local is akin to the people of BFE, Arkansas claiming Walmart is local "because it was started and headquartered here".

Its a local company. How hard is that to understand?
Its family run. How hard is that to understand?

I'd be willing to bet that MOST of ATOT are grocery store snobs. The majority have never set foot in an ethnic grocery store or bodega.

I don't go to the ethnic stores here because the employees give you weird looks/act rude to you if you aren't their ethnicity. The worst one is the Filipino store, if you aren't Filipino they usually ignore you or act like they don't speak English.

not sure why anyone would willingly do their everyday shopping at a bodega if they have a choice... shit is overpriced and usually of poor-to-mediocre quality compared to what you can buy at a nice supermarket.

That and in most of the cities I have lived in bodegas don't exist. Liquor stores on every corner that sell junk but I can only think of one bodega I've ever seen. I used to buy snacks there when I worked close to it but I wouldn't dream of shopping there.

99.9% of time Krogers. I do it because I earn points on fuel and towards Kroger Award checks using my Kroger credit card. I currently get double point for gas (paid a $1.34/gallon last weekend on my truck) and about $70/quarter to use toward Kroger groceries. Plus, they're generally cheaper than HEB, Albertson's or Target, and carry more than Walmart or Brookshire Brothers. Only thing I don't particularly care for is their meat selection.

Central Market is far and away the best grocery store I have ever shopped at. When I lived in TX probably 95%+ of my groceries came from there with the rest a mix of Tom Thumb/Sprouts and different Asian grocery stores.

Now 80% of my produce comes from the local farmer's market. Rest of my food comes from Trader Joe's/Whole Foods/Sprouts/Costco/Various ethnic grocery stores depending on what we are cooking. Kind of obnoxious as no one place is as reliably well stocked in ingredients (ethnic stores aside) as Central Market was.

I do the majority of my shopping at Wegmans. If I only need to pick up a couple items I'll go to Tops since it's closer.

I love the ethnic grocery stores. Cheap produce at most, random snacks or condiments I couldn't get elsewhere and usually good made food if available.

I pretty much shop at all grocery stores nearby.. Costco, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Safeway, Nob Hill, Mollie Stones, Chavez, 99 Ranch, Nijiya, Mitsuwa, couple of local Eastern European markets and my favorite, Milk Pail.

I'll admit that I do not buy produce at Walmart.

Stop & Shop for me for normal meats and stuff. I get my spices at regional locales in NYC. Like, when I buy curry, I go to 6th street and 1st ave., theres an indian spice shop and I can make my own curry. Food Bazaars in the city has a great ethnic spice area. Most are located in very urban living areas so I go during the day. :)

CostCo is fantastic if you can deal with the crowds. Their meat is always top notch. So are their frozen vegetables. Dairy products are also crazy cheap. Half & Half is like a third the price of the regular supermarkets.

I usually shop at Longo's, which is a regional chain here in Toronto. Owned by this Italian family. They're a little more expensive but the service is superior and I find they have better quality produce.

Used to shop at the A&P (now Metro) but they moved to the other side of town. Found they went downhill hard after that. Really low quality meats and vegetables, which is inexcusable for such a big chain.

Loblaws is the big hypermarket here. They're trying to take on Walmart. My biggest gripe with them is their stores are way too big now. I like to just get in and out. Their service also stinks. They don't offer plastic bags or boxes. If you forget your canvas bags, you're screwed.

Sobey's, the other big chain, has decent stuff but they're really expensive compared to the other grocers.

Walmart of course is Walmart. It's the same wherever you go. Their grocery section is okay but I wouldn't do a full shop there. Their canned goods are decent though and usually pretty cheap.

Is Winco (from the article) that bad?

I like Kroger.

Where do you get your groceries? I don't think I ever get my groceries at drugs stores such as CVS/Walgreen/Rite Aid.

I hate Kroger based on their stupid "Kroger Card", otherwise known as "In order to get real pricing, you have to sign up for this stupid fucking card in which you agree for us to record all your transactions and buying habits, study them, and see how we can best rip you off in future purchases"

Locally, I get my groceries at HEB. Though I liked some of the other grocery stores when I was in Florida (Publix I think?). But overall, I like Costco even better but they haven't built one close to me yet.

oh, and I will never step foot in a Walmart unless desperation occurs (Amazing Slickdeal or something). I fucking hate Walmart with a passion.

I look at their meat prices and laugh walking away. Really? $7 for some fuckin ground beef? $10 for your cheapest steak?

That's more a function of where you grew up.

More or less.

There are not any Krogers here, used to live near some.

The wife shops around, usually hits Publix for a lot of things, and Sam's Club and Wal-Mart when she finds deals in those.

Publix for general purpose.

I go discount shopping once a month(BigLots/Aldi), and premium once a month(Wegmans), with some other(ethnic, natural, flea market...) interspersed throughout.
