The current discrimination toward whites, white males and Christians is more than just in the job market or educational areana.
I believe that there is a more insidious trend going on, one that if reversed or pointed in another direction wouldn't be accepted for a moment. Every so often, I tune into BET and occasionally also see the DEF Comedy stuff. I am more and more outraged at the fact that a black man or woman can stand on stage and make derogatory comments and / or jokes about white people and also sometimes asians and that it is considered ok. The use of derogatory statements, slurs and name calling should never be considered ok.
Let me pose a question: What would the public response be if Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld came on stage and started to talk about lazy n*ers? OUTRAGE! , and rightfully so. But a black comedian can stand up and talk about a white guy having a dinky d!ck or asians not knowing how to drive and it's not only socially acceptable, it's FUNNY!
I know this might seem like a small thing, but if you look back at how/when people became oppressed in history, you find that devalueing and dehumanizing them was the first step. We have come to a point in this nation where for a white person to do that publically to someone else is unacceptable... but should afirmative action include openly negative stereotypes of people being ok if you are one of the previously oppressed?
My children go to a school that is about 90% black. My daughter is the only white girl in her class and my son has only two others in his class. In each of their cases, their best friends at school are black, not white. We teach our children that they are to judge others on the content of their charecter and on their behaviour, NOT simply the color of the gift-wrap they happen to be wearing. I believe that the ONLY way to gain equality is to make people equal in the minds of men, not by laws. All AA is doing at this point is to make white people harbor resentment against others. Eventually there will be a backlash from this; two wrongs don't make a right.
BTW... I think young black males are both the most dangerous and the most discriminated against. Most dangerous not because of genetics, but because of the environment so many are raised in and the subsequent behaviours that become normalized. I knew a ton of black guys in the Army and some of the very worst guys I knew where black guys from the inner city... conversely, some of the most excellent people I knew were black guys raised in small, rural farming communities. It's not about color, it's about charecter.
