I believe that there is a more insidious trend going on, one that if reversed or pointed in another direction wouldn't be accepted for a moment. Every so often, I tune into BET and occasionally also see the DEF Comedy stuff. I am more and more outraged at the fact that a black man or woman can stand on stage and make derogatory comments and / or jokes about white people and also sometimes asians and that it is considered ok. The use of derogatory statements, slurs and name calling should never be considered ok.

Let me pose a question: What would the public response be if Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld came on stage and started to talk about lazy n*ers? OUTRAGE! , and rightfully so. But a black comedian can stand up and talk about a white guy having a dinky d!ck or asians not knowing how to drive and it's not only socially acceptable, it's FUNNY!

I know this might seem like a small thing, but if you look back at how/when people became oppressed in history, you find that devalueing and dehumanizing them was the first step. We have come to a point in this nation where for a white person to do that publically to someone else is unacceptable... but should afirmative action include openly negative stereotypes of people being ok if you are one of the previously oppressed?

My children go to a school that is about 90% black. My daughter is the only white girl in her class and my son has only two others in his class. In each of their cases, their best friends at school are black, not white. We teach our children that they are to judge others on the content of their charecter and on their behaviour, NOT simply the color of the gift-wrap they happen to be wearing. I believe that the ONLY way to gain equality is to make people equal in the minds of men, not by laws. All AA is doing at this point is to make white people harbor resentment against others. Eventually there will be a backlash from this; two wrongs don't make a right.

BTW... I think young black males are both the most dangerous and the most discriminated against. Most dangerous not because of genetics, but because of the environment so many are raised in and the subsequent behaviours that become normalized. I knew a ton of black guys in the Army and some of the very worst guys I knew where black guys from the inner city... conversely, some of the most excellent people I knew were black guys raised in small, rural farming communities. It's not about color, it's about charecter.

There are White comedians who make jokes about Blacks and others. Seinfeld and Leno don't, but that's just their style.

Doesnt feel too good now does it. how do you think minorities have been putting up with for years. well now they are not thats why you feel the way you do................white oppressor........ what land did you take over lately and force the people to convert to christianity over their will. lol

Take over land... oh, you mean like the way Islam began and declared jihad on the rest of the world until they were stopped in Europe? Or do you mean how the Egyptians (Africans) enslaved the Jews?

Point well taken. Probably won't stop my longwindedness, but using a spell checkers a good idea.

I wouldn't say that. I would say Women are... but then again, Women aren't nearly as good as Men, so I guess it stands to reason. :D

------

Seriously. I was kidding

People are what they make of themselves... If someone is going around saying "I'm being discriminated against!", then they are just on the wrong path. "Most" of the people I've ever met that say "I've been discriminated against!" usually have "issues" themselves.... like every other word out of their mouth is "White men this" and "Black men that".

I'm neither Black nor White.

I'm a person. Get over it.

If a white man were to speak at a university today on Christianity, he would get flamed by everyone at the college.
If an Arab were to speak at a university about Islam, or an Indian were to speak about Hinuism NO ONE would bother them at all.

It is UNNACEPTABLE to criticise the Islamic religion in our culture. but people criticise Christians all the time...

When are you guys going to wake up and stop complaining??? I'll bet you all go home from your nice jobs and turn on your cable or satellite TV drink a beer and call it a day. We, as white people, have no right to complain about being discriminated against. Because it isn't happening, find something else to whine about.
On another note, the only possible reason that a white Christian would be persecuted is due to the lang standing history of persecution at the hands of white Christians. When you think of incidents of genocide...it's most likely that the person at its' head was European. We have quite a bit of persecution coming to us in my opinion. If one wishes to look at the cause and effect of things.
