are we really biased ?

hey guys, there are a lot of people stating vc&g are horribly biased towards amd and I wanted to know why the think that .

To me personally, vc&g has some of the few people that really see it how it is, in that in every card match up from 7750 vs 640 to 7970 ghz vs 680 amd wins because amd is actually providing more performance in each of the matchups .
The only place where nv is truly winning is in 3d cuda, physx and lower power consumption, but those are really side notes to what really matters which is performance for your dollar .

I would say yes because the two brands are very close with AMD winning handily in single GPU, but Nvidia winning in multi GPU.

There are very vocal users here that shout down, whitewash, or anything possible to hide that AMD gpus aren't the best at every single thing. This isn't like the CPU world where one manufacturer is obviously the best at almost everything CPU. GPU-wise, things are relatively equal, but only the AMD strengths are allowed on this board. If you point out AMD flaws you are called an "nvidia troll".

It's a pretty recent change as well. 1 year ago, it wasn't this way.

Some people here are definitely biased. I mean come on people, it is not a political party, it is not a religion, it is just a computer component! The smart people look for the best performance per cost that satisfies the individual user requirement one might have, and make an informed decision on buying a product based on that. Brand loyalty is for losers, and it is pretty easy from some recent threads to identify who whose are. Do not be a loser.

I don't think we are biased we have a healthy amount of discussion and heated debate in every thread. If we were a biased this place would sound more like an echochamber where we would circlejerk about how great AMD is or how bad nVidia is but obviously that's not the case.

I do think we have more AMD fans/owners right now but that's because today AMD has better value but if that shifts to nVidia next generation most of our userbase won't have a problem with jumping ship.

Cmon guys. It's a piece of silicon on top of laminated boards. They're tools, and it doesn't really matter which company makes it as long as the one you're getting is of good quality. You're never going to meet the people who make the boards, and they'll never recognize you for liking them.

Personally, I'm biased by my wallet; whatever card meets my needs within my budget is a card I'm going for.

Before this generation of cards came out Many people loved Nvidia as far as power goes. AMD then released the 7970 and everyone was upset over the price and small gains in performance of that thing. As soon as Nvidia released their solution I don't remember anyone recommending AMD's cards. Now that drivers have been released and prices slashed, AMD has made a huge comeback on this forum.

So are we biased? I would say everyone is. I prefer AMD, but if Nvidia offers a better deal there's no reason I wouldn't recommend them. This forum doesn't switch biases all the time, but generally everybody makes a good recommendation based on performance and budget. It's not hard to point to a chart and say which company has the better product at the moment, and generally that's what this forum does regardless of who is in the lead.

I think instead of meaningful for Nvidia you mean profitable :thumbsup: Buying a card and nearly wasting more on electricity when you're trying to make money is definitely a no go. With AMD the cash comes slow, but at least it's coming.

I have viewed a few forums where there's literally only one type of posters and the other people responding in the thread are just patting each other backs and circlejerking. We are far from that as can be...

There are fanboys on both sides of the aisle but I wouldn't say VC&G is overwhelmed by one or the other as some forums imply.

For the gamer, AMD offers the better value unless you like special features from Nvidia. What's so biased about the truth?

The products have flip-flopped as well. AMD is not always the better buy.

People still think Nvidia drivers are better, but it's seemingly close nowadays.

Go look at their front page in the Video Card section and count how many thread topics deal with Nvidia. And not only more news topics like driver updates but also more "Nvidia is the Awesome Sauce" type threads.

At least one person here here receives free gear or other goodies from one of the companies. That is by definition a conflict of interest, and anything he says must be taken into consideration, just as anything that an Intel rep in the CPU forum, must be taken with that into consideration.

There are also a number of fanatics here that may have undisclosed interests or are just simple fanbois or something.

Other than that, the rest of the regulars here seem to be split into three camps: hardcore enthusiasts, bang-for-buck intermediate enthusiasts, and bang-for-buck low-end enthusiasts or those more interested in things like HTPC playback. Everyone is going to have a different perspective, e.g., some people live in countries where electricity costs 10 times more than it does in places like Seattle, WA. For them, perf/watt matters a lot more.

I have always bought Nvidia cards. It's not really bias, just comfortable-ness. I would rather stick with a product that delivers good performance and a personal history of working great over trying a new company just for a marginal performance increase above and beyond what my needs are.

Brand loyalty for me, not bias.
