I feel like video card prices may have FINALLY gotten back down to reality - I see used low profile 4GB RX 550 video cards going for $65 - $90 again on Ebay, just like they were 3.5 years ago. Until 3 or 4 months ago, they were still 50% higher or more.

-I've been tracking current gen used cards on ebay for the last few month, and it looks like sale prices are dropping by ~$100 per month (doesn't help that they started so high three months ago, but now you have 3080's selling in the $400's instead of the $600's) but there appear to be a lot of folks who bought scalped cards that are just not coming to grips with what people seem to be willing to actually pay for them now (which keeps dropping month to month).

A lot of $600 listings are sitting around with 0 bids (while they may have had 10+ bidders three months ago). I'm seeing a lot more sellers trying to resort to "make an offer" situations to try and lift their sale prices.

Some guy was trying to move 7 OEM beat to absolute **** (like had scraches and even some gouges in the fan shroud) 6800XT's, initial asking price was $650. I offered $350 on account of the cards being OEM, obviously mined with, looking like they'd been chewed on by his dogs. Dropped in my whole spiel with ETH going POS, next gen dropping soon, current gen prices dropping further etc.

He counters asking for $599. LOL what?

Sad thing is there does seem to be a population of suckers out there that seems to be paying way more than these cards are worth right now (although not as much as they were three months ago), likely because the prices still look way better than the scalped to hell prices many people got used to over the last 2 years.

On the main Dutch eBay equivalent, I also see a big disconnect. Most sellers have an excessive asking price. Those with a minimum bid price never have any bids. Those without a minimum only sometimes have bids. Many do not allow bidding (which is a decent strategy to catch a sucker).

Still, I see bids around 600 euro for 10 GB 3080's.

However, supply is very low. I don't see any evidence for a decent number of miners dumping their cards. So lots of opportunity for a huge oversupply and thus very low prices.

You only have to look at the Ethereum network hashrate, which has remained flat since the middle of June.

I have absolutely no idea what any these measurements mean, to me it sounds like you are about to get cooked in your private castle. ;) (obviously I could just convert to metric)
I live in a 200sqm house from 1978, with distributed heating, and the temperature is typically from -5 to 25C during the year.
His house is 140sqm and temps averaged 41C with high of 46C.

I'll be honest, that's not where I would be shopping for GPUs these days. Maybe 5 years ago.

I think that you should look for some $100-120 RX 6400 LP single-slot 4GB GDDR6 cards, in the upcoming months.

There's a lot of ASICs with only 5GB of RAM that were kicked off of ETH mining due to DAG size growth, that now can only mine ETC, if they update their miner's firmware.

Those MSRPs are from the PC dark times timeline. We have merged with a better one, where even at 30% under, it is still no bueno.
It was released just before or at the start of the "dark times", along with the 3080 @ $699 in Sept 2020. Nvidia had no idea about there would be a massive shortage crisis at time of release. The 2080ti FE @ $1199 a couple years earlier, so the 3090 @ $1499 was not too radically priced comparatively given its costlier design with 24gb vram.

Still would not touch a 3090 even at $700. Too late at this stage.

RTX 3090 price below $ 1k. Thats about 30% below MSRP.

That's about what I expected to happen - price compression of GA102 but not across the entire lineup price cuts like what's happening with AMD.

Still would not touch a 3090 even at $700. Too late at this stage.

It's still going to be several months before you'll see anything other than the 4090 and even longer for something like 4070/N33.

I wouldn't touch one period. 415 Watts just for gaming? No thanks.

- I'd be fine picking one up for $350-375 and then undervolting.

Ebay is kind of wild right now on the NV side. Cards are starting to flood and prices are starting to drop precipitously, especially on 3060/3070 variants.

AMD, as usual, seems to actually be a bit stickier in terms of used card pricing thanks to a smaller volume of new cards and therefor and perpetually smaller volume of used cards going on sale (also, fewer "Card 11 of 50" flooding the AMD side).

This might end up being my first gen since i went from an MX200 to a 4600Ti that I will do two generations of card from the same manufacturer back to back if 3080/3090's start flooding like 3070's and 60's have, which kind of sucks cause I really want to pivot back to AMD this gen and see how the RDNA2 arch works out. Haven't bought anything yet and i'm seeing the initial offer prices of 3080/3090/6800/6900 cards slowly creep down as reality sets in for sellers so lets see how this pans out.

^^^ I dunno. I watched a 3070 looking like it was going to sell for $360. But sure enough there was sniping. There was like 3-4 bids during the final 10 seconds. I think it sold for $390 but it could have been more... $390 was at like 3 seconds. Oh and this one had $15 shipping on top. I guess that's still an okay deal given that even getting MSRP for a new 3070 is tough. Depends on how much you value not having a card come from the mines.
