What's bumming me out bigtime is used cards are going for ~$600 and ~$500 respectively like god damn consumers have some friggin self respect.

I do wonder if high prices in Europe/rest of the world means we have international buyers grabbing cards for non-sensical prices on American ebay because converted to their localized currency its still a good deal for them.
If I recall right, the Euro and Dollar are about par so that wouldnt make sense

Even IF you get a 3080 for $300-400, wouldn't you be paying extra in electricity costs over the lifetime of the card?

6700 XT: 230W TDP (6750 XT is a bad example)
3080 12GB: 350W TDP (you would save 30W going with 10GB)
Or I could set a power limit on the 3080 for now until I need the extra frames down the road.

I just dont want to see MS or someone say my video card wont support the next OS or some other software like photo imaging software. I got a notice from Hulu that my 2015 Samsung smart TV isnt smart enough for HULU anymore and that I need to upgrade the TV or lose Hulu. So how many other streaming networks will follow? Thats what Im talking about.
I have a 3.5 year old HP Zbook 17 G4 and it didnt even qualify for Windows 11. I got it going but hell that hurts when you have a 4000 dollar notebook that is already software obsolete.

No, it isn't. Trust me, it will still run software in 2030, one way or the other. Wintel always wants people to splurge on the latest and greatest. I got Windows 8.1 running great on a Core Duo laptop with 2 GB RAM. It wasn't atrociously slow.

That doesn't make much sense, since the reason for the higher prices is mainly VAT. Once you pay shipping + VAT + import tax + handling fees, you are better off buying on the local second hand market.

Also, the low value of the euro makes buying from the US relatively expensive.

6700 XT minimum. Anything else isn't very future proof due to low VRAM. 1440p will suffer on 8GB cards with high res textures in console ports especially.

-I've completely given up on 3070's and 3060tis for this reason. 8gb just feels like entry level card amounts now. Even if I can get one for $150 bucks, I have ~$400 to spend and I want the most card for the money at that price, which is looking more and more like a 6800xt or 3080ti.

I'm basically starting at 3080 10gb on the NV side, and the 6700xt on the AMD side.

I'm holding out for 6800xt and up on the AMD side and 3090 and up on the NV side.

You say you want cheaper GPUs? ::: Monkey Paw curls::

How about a 3060 8 GB? Also it appears they have way too much of the slower GDDR6X so they are dumping it on 3060 Ti.

One of only a couple items that I bought slightly used for my new PC was a PSU. So far its been a real gem. 850 watt Platinum modular Rosewill Quark for 50 bucks off Ebay.

Now nVidia is giving away Spider Man Remastered for people who buy (new) 3080 and up. Ends October 12th, which might be a clue as to when the 4090 is released?

They offer great value. Their PSU's even work as a space heater.
Say what you want, but Gigabyte is will known for having superior lighting effects. The value added smells and sounds people associate with Gigabyte are not duplicated by their competition. A unique experience!

Last but not least, testing* seems to show Gigabyte PSUs have included an exciting feature to keep your computer up to date with the latest hardware!

Thought GDDR6X was faster than GDDR6? Not so?

- I figure that means the GDDR6x is too slow to be used forward on the 40xx series of cards, not that its slower than the existing GDDR6 on 3060Ti cards.

In order to move the excess GDDR6x inventory, they'll put it on 3060Tis.

Intriguing.
i just saw an RX 6600 from ASRock that ws $239 AR. Will these 8GB 3060 cards finally be price-competitive with those?
