Yes, but most people just want a reliable commuter car, so it doesn't really matter.

I'm not saying this is a negative or a positive, just saying in general. Toyota makes good cars though.

A Toyota will do every important thing that a person expects out of a car and do it better than any other car on the market.

Define soul.

i'm going to say, not really any worse than many other brands, particularly competing american models. the camry and corolla, though not fun to drive, are not any worse than directly competing cars, disregarding honda's stuff.

The corolla is no worse than say, the base cobalt and focus. The camry, no worse than chevy, buick, ford, etc. It's just a generic insult thrown against toyo cars that don't have any other real weak points.

Not really. It just has mass appeal, just like Dell does, or Wal-Mart does. That does not mean it is better necessarily, although they do make good cars.

Completely agreed. This is no insult against Toyota.

The South Park episode, Best Friends Forever, confirmed that the Japanese do not have souls. Toyota cars are made by a Japanese company. Therefore, Toyota cars do not have souls.

And since the Japanese and Germans were allies during WWII it must follow that Germans do not have souls either. German cars are made by Germans. Therefore, German cars do not have souls.

Walmart has mass appeal cause its cheaper. Toyota has mass appeal because they have a long track record of building dependable cars. Very big difference.

LOL Sorry, I did not use the correct term. Maybe the term "soul less" is not appropriate or really accurate. Let me think of something better ...

Toyota (and Dell and Walmart to some extent) sell goods that are better at the price point. IOW, to get something comparable from somewhere else, you'd need to spend more.

They focus on what consumers care about and don't bother with frills the mass market doesn't care about in its volume cars like RWD, V8's, no coupes, etc.

I agree, but it appeals to the masses. Wal-Mart does not have the sort of image that Toyota has. It is comparable to Dell however since Dell has long been viewed as a more reliable alternative to Compaq, HP, Gateway etc. Its pricing does not hurt either. There are other car manufacturers that build reliable cars too, but they do not have the mass appeal that Toyota has.

Don't forget the Italians! Italian cars have no souls...

And the Thais...

Camry was soul less. Boring, but unoffensive. Now the new one, they tried, but that thing is ugly.

Yes, Wal-Mart is the master at this. It is basically selling generic stuff for a lot cheaper and people love it. I can't blame them. I would buy something cheaper that serves its function. Toyota is a great manufacturing company that is vast and can produce a lot of cars - exactly playing into the cars of the American people who want reliable cars at a decent price. But there are alternatives that might be slightly better, just like there are alternatives to Wal-mart that might be slightly better. You do have to pay the price, however.
