I Really have my doubts about This video, that it is supposed to be REAL TIME rendered by the PS3 or are they just trailers and there is nothing great about them?

AHH, and The Killzone video in the PS3 presentation is also unbelievable.

After watching those ¿REAL TIME? videos, dont you think I should kick my PC???? :p

The question is: CAN REALLY THE PS3 be soooo good???

The power of the PS3 pwns your computer like a gorilla on a banana. It is very believable.

If the 360 and PS3 are this powerful, and sell for less than the cost of the top-of-the-line PC video card alone, why would anyone go the PC gaming upgrade route anymore? If you can hook them up to your computer monitor, great - I would do that. Otherwise, you're stuck with a crappy low-res/interlaced analog TV or going out and spending $1000+ on a HD TV if you want its full potential, which makes the 360/PS3 a $1300-$1500 investment.

That racing game looks like pre-rendered scenes with in-game footage here and there.
Killzone looks pretty impressive if those are all rendered realtime.
I might have to get both the xbox360 and ps3 now....

Neither look believable to me. But Killzone showed it in first person so its really hard to say. Those graphics beat out DIII,HL2 and Far Cry hands down IMO. Naw it can't be but if it's possible you would def have to have a mid-high end TV for it to look that good.

Nope sorry all speculation. I don't know anything :)

Have you seen the U3 engine demos? Did it not look that good in real time? So why is this so hard to believe? The PS3's processor is like 10x a PC's processor, and the VPU is more than 2x what we have. These consoles aren't fooling around, it'll be a while before PC's catch up to the power they contain. For a while, ports from consoles will look bad because PC's can't handle it yet :p

That's some real evidence right there.

Don't believe me? Watch the Sony conference at E3, if you can find a public video.

**cough** look 3 posts up **cough**

Of the whole conference. A short demo of a game on the PS3 doesn't tell you how powerful the PS3 is.

I'm sure if they were realtime the developers would be bragging about it nonstop, but since that's not the case...

Yeah...whatever.

I remember that "strategic" rumous according to which Saddam Hussein was buying PS2 consoles, since they were allegedly so powerful that they could have been used in military applications and WMDs...

In the console vs. PC game, I put my money on the PC.

So.. you think it's just a "rumour" that the PS3 and Xbox 360 are 10x more powerful than our PC's? I mean, it couldn't possible be new tech like EVERY website has reported on, even Anandtech, right?

PCs always, not almost always, but always catch up to the consoles, and outgrow them by a considerable margin within the first year of release.

Nevermind the fact that it costs a damn arm and a leg, but with the type of games that are usually released for the PC vs. the consoles (sophistication, interactivity, fan-made mods, etc.), I'd prefer the PC's games - now, that having been said, some console games do blow the PC games out of the water, but usually it's the other way around, IMO.

IMHO, one of the major selling points of the consoles was their cheap prices. Now, except for the high end video cards, I've seen a -slow- trend of PC prices coming down these past five years (not much, but increased production, supply, yields lower prices of components), while console prices have been increasing. I'm going to be surprised if the next gen systems can be purchased for anything less than a penny below $400*.

*Yes, I've seen the rumored price, and I doubt they can sell the system at that much loss and hope to ever recoup that deficit through game sales.

While Cell might be n times more powerful than an Athlon64(or whatever) in theory, it'll never reach that in real life, except perhaps when running some very specialized applications, of which none will be games.

It'll be more powerful no doubt, but 10x is just marketing speak.

After reading that IGN link, and the comments in the IGN forum, I really dont know if its pre rendered or real time.
there is no confirmation....
Has anyone saw this game being played real time on the PS3? (on the only one that is in the E3?)
