I'm no audiophile, but I have the 560's... absolutely love them. I couldn't compare them to the Klipsch, but if a casual user is thinking about upgrading those old Boston Accoustics, these are definitely worth the $120 I paid Dell.

I'm SHOCKED that the Z-560s APPEAR to have better components/warranty than the Klipsch offering (i.e., class A/B VS D Amp and 2 year/1 year warranty)!!!

What about cone material (e.g., paper, synthetic, etc.)? Do you think the cones in the Z-560s will last, or will they dry-rot and blow out in 3 years?

I'm looking to get a set of speakers and I'd LOVE to pick some up for less than $200.00. Those Promedia 5.1s look/sound great, but $400.00+...that SUCKS (especially with only a 1 year warranty)!

Thanks,

I think it comes down to this. A pair of multimedia computer speakers (unless you get videologic speakers) can not hold a candle to a real HT setup anyway. So there is really no point is spending big bucks. If you want decent computer speakers go for the logitechs. If you need that extra quality go for a real HT setup. That being said I think both the logitechs and the klipsch are great products. The klipsch me sound better to some (personally I need a bit more time as I just got my Z560's before I make a choice) but I find it hard to belive they sound twice as good (price difference in Canada).

Well i think theyre paper cones with aluminum phase plugs. (but dont quote me)

On another note, I love mine. Theyre extremely well made, they sound great for a multimedia speaker, and I didnt have to sell a kidney to afford them.

the "cone" in the sat's is metal :)... not going any where if yea know what i mean. Go look at some pictures to see what i mean. Logitech left out the tweaters because they are to hard to phaze correctly, and they could get much better sound without them or something like that. Lets put it this way, There is NO problem with the highs on the 560's, I have the 560s, and I am thrilled with them. I don't really know about the klimpsch's, but i can say that the 560's are constructed better than the promedia's. I'm not that much of an audiophile, but computer speakers can't compare with a real hi-fi system. Sure, the promedia's and 560's are the top of the like computer speakers, but if you want to get real hi-fi sound your going to have to spend 10x to 100x what the 560's cost. The thing is, they aren't 10x better. The 560's are a awsome deal, beyond awsome. Still not better than my Sennheiser headphones though :).

You won't be disapointed if you get the 560's I promise you :). Spend that extra money some other way.

The only complaint I have is the bass issue. Even at its lowest setting it is still pretty powerful. You can always lower the bass with EQ though.
