Are Seltzers the perfect drink?

OK, this is embarrassing even writing it, but as an admitted diet soda drinker, I am concerned about the caffeine about 30% and about 70% the artificial sweeteners, which I am sure are not good for me (yes, I'm aware of the studies that mostly show they're ok).

Seltzers have no sodium, caffeine, OR artificial sweeteners. They appear to be just carbonated water with a dash of some natural fruit flavor, so I presume they are exactly as healthy as water, aren't they?

They are certainly a hell of a lot healthier than diet sodas and a great way to wean yourself off drinking any of that crap.

Get a juicer if you need some variety. Champion makes the best juicer; the Commercial model is the one to get: (get a black one, won't show stains)

I make mostly apple juice and carrot juice with it. Pretty good stuff. Takes a little getting used to if you've grown up on the bottled stuff. It comes with a nice recipe book for all kinds of fruit and veggie drinks. No preservatives, no refined sugars, no corn syrup, no artificial anything...

^^ what he said. just make sure you drink natural juice (orange, apple) and don't add anything to your coffee and tea.

I cannot juice at work, though, and I want no calories. I drink a lot of water throughout the day, but I need some flavor, too. Years ago I got on a lemon juice kick for a while, spraying pure lemon juice into water but I'm bored with that now.

My coffee and tea is awful without lots of milk and sugar, and yes I have lots of that stuff, but I need to take baby steps 🙂

It's good you recognize the importance of making small, but meaningful, changes. Too often people try to change their behavior overnight and get frustrated at the difficulty. I think you'll find the transition from diet soda to seltzer relatively easy (with a few relapses, I'm sure). Once you're solely drinking seltzer for your carbonated cravings, that's the time to start trying to phase it out entirely.

Good luck.

Water, juice, tea, coffee.

I'm not that into coffee personally, but yeah that about sums it up.

If you're worried about caffeine, go for Green or white tea. Black tea has about 1/2 the caffeine of coffee, Green tea 1/4, White has negligible amounts, and Red has none, although it's technically not even tea (made from Rooibos, a plant native to South Africa.)
