Are pistachios the most delicious nut?

honestly ...

i'll take a good, honest peanut over any of these modern nonsense.

Sure, one macadamia nut is great once in a while, but if you eat like 3 in a row they start to taste horrible. Same goes for brazil nuts. Pistachio can be lovely but it annoys me that you get so many different flavors in the same bag, and some are downright nasty.

how is a pistachio modern?

Zenobia has been importing them into the US since ~ the 40s, I believe, maybe earlier?

I do love a dry-roasted peanut, though-- probably my all-time favorite snack. Boiled, salted in shell, whatever.

Hell, I grew up in a podunk town, and the only nuts I knew were peanuts, pecans (because we had a tree), and pistachios. I always assumed they were the only nuts. Grandparents would buy cases of Zenobia packs every December, and everyone they knew would get a ~20oz pack every year.

so, the complete list is,
cashews
peanuts
macadamia
pistachios
hazelnuts
brazil nuts
almonds
pecans
walnuts

and i guess we could add pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chestnuts;
i guess there's more, but i don't presently recall.

anyway, this thread needs a poll

Walnuts. World's most useless nut ever.

English walnuts are one of my favorites. They're definitely my favorite in the Xmas nut-in-shell bags. Black walnut is too strong tasting, and too hard to get to. A starving man would give up, and eat his own fingers instead :^D

I might have to go with the lowly peanut also(yea, yea, it's not really a nut...). They're highly versatile, and taste good.

and where to get any type of nuts cheap?

Any bulk foods type place. I used to get them from Sprouts, but I like the raw unsalted almonds from Ansar Gallery better.

Nutwise it doesn't get much better than Baklava or a toll house cookie, Walnuts for the versatility, Pistachios for the peak flavor, almonds for a routine snack, peanuts when you want the carbs.

peanut butter is made with peanuts, but you need hazelnuts to make nutella.

WHAT A DILEMMA!

also, why nobody thought of making nutella with peanuts, srsly.

Cashews, pistachios, macadamias, flavored almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, unflavored almonds in that order. No pecans or walnuts.

my desk snack is a can of honey roasted whole cashews or pistachios. been honey roasted cashews more than often. pistachio shells can kind of get out of hand.

then again the matte finish on some of the keys on my keyboard are glossy now from all the nut.

Roasted/salted peanuts are under rated.

I like them much more than cashews, almonds, or pistachios.

I guess a peanut is technically a legume...

Peanuts are a good, solid choice, I agree. Cheap and healthy as a snack.
