Are my 3dmark scores on track?

I just ran 3DMark06 and got 5220 points. Is that on target for my system?

Gigabyte DS3
C2D e6300 @ 7x400=2.8ghz (stock Intel cooler)
2x1gb Patriot DDR2-667 @ 800MHz 4-4-4-12, 2.0V
Radeon X1900XTX
Seagate 250GB SATAII HD
Enermax Liberty 500W PSU

I unlocked ATI Overdrive but I didn't do anything with it... not sure if it's OCed or not. Anyone know any guides for how to OC Radeons?

So, how does 5220 points stack up to similar systems?

I score around 4200 with my GT and a 3500 Venice. I thought the XTX should be closer to 6000 rather than 5000. Especially with a C2D

Remember that the way the game works is to set everything really low. That means in ATI users case:
AA: App Pref Temp AA off
AF: App Pref HQ AF OFF
CAT AI: Advanced
MipMaps: Performance (not High Performance...)
Vert Refresh: off
Adaptive AA: off

You pretty much have to do it this way. Otherwise your score will look off.

Are you running the bench with performance settings ? Or do you have AA/AF enabled ?

Your scores are definately low.

I score 6100 in '06 using default XTX clocks, 6500 @ 690/800.

You should beat my score by a couple hundred points on CPU power alone.

I wonder why my scores are so low? I'm running all default settings for 3DMark06. I tried it at 16x AF and 4x AA and got 4000ish (I think. I'll test that again now.). Might it have something to do with having a second monitor hooked up? I detached it with Windows Display Properties and got basically the same score, but maybe just having it pluged it at all causes this? I just now ran another test with SpeedFan on my second monitor showing CPU temps in the mid 40s C, so my CPU isn't overheating or anything. My individual scores are:

SM2.0 Score: 1907
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 2140
CPU Score: 2445

This seems to always happen to me :( Last time I got a new system and OCed it, I always got significantly smaller benchmark scores than people with similar systems.

I'm using the newest drivers for everything in my system. That's Catalyst 6.9 for video drivers, and I have Control Center set to Factory Defaults.

Just for reference, my score breaks down like this:

SM2: 2613
SM3: 2893
CPU: 2072

Try Catalyst 6.6 drivers. They offered the best performance for me.

And do as others suggested and confirm you have no AA/AF, set to performance (although 'quality' shouldn't hurt performance TOO much) and also try turning Vsync on/off, whichever is the opposite you have selected right now.

I built my system yesterday. I have nothing installed besides 3DMark06 and a few untility apps (WinRAR, etc) that aren't running. I've disabled all unesecary Windows services, and no prorgrams are running in the background (I've thoroughly cleaned out my startup with msconfig) besides whatever Audigy softeware does to change the volume icon, and the ATI tray icon. I haven't defragged, but I don't see why that'd make any difference on a brand new system. Any other suggestions?

I get ~6200 stock on my X1900XT and ~6800 with my usual settings (650/800 clocks)...

Seems low, definitely. Did you wipe out all old drivers and run the cleaning routine?

Hmm, this is weird. When I go to Cat Control Center, the ATI Overdrive dialog says "ATI Ovedrive capabilities have not been properly initialized yet. Pleaes try again later." and no controls show up. What the hell does that mean? Maybe that's my problem?

are you using ATI TOOL or ATI TRAY TOOLS? Don't for the moment. CCC defaults is not good enough. set Mip Map to performance.

Ok, so I went into the Control Center and set the settings as gersson said, then close it and end-tasked Control Center. Then I ran 3DMark06 and I still got 5214 points.
1922 SM2.0
2170 HDR/SM3.0
2442 CPU

What the heck could be giving me such terrible scores? I'll try Catalyst 6.6 and post my results once it's tested.

I think I figured out the problem. My Radeon x1900xtx seems to be clocking itself at 500mhz core, 594mhz RAM. Isn't it supposed to be 650Mhz core, 775Mhz RAM? I tried clocking it up to those settings with ATI Tray Tools, and the fan suddently went from silent to loud as hell, and then my system froze and my monitors turned off, so I quickly hit the reset button. What the heck is going on here? I've also noticed that during the 3DMark06 tests, the fan never makes any noise, so I'd assume that it's not clocking the speeds up only during active 3d rendering.

Those are 2D clocks. Is what you did was overclocked those. When you enter a 3D application, the clocks will go up to what they should be. Do Not overclock the 2D clocks. Im sure other's will tell you this also.

Yes that is fine, with no AA and 0 AF you would be getting around 6k-7kish.

Guys dont post if you do not know what you are talking about plx. His score is fine with AA and AF enabled.

Doesn't each test fit completely in the RAM?
Have you ever seen 3DMark access the hard drive during any of the tests?
