This is from my own experience at UW Madison. But you must read the whole reply to understand my point.
I had a roomate who was very far to the left. (He'd have to move to the right to become a communist :Q) Well me being a conservative I have my own ideas on foreign and domestic policies and when he found out about that he treated me like sh!t. He even yelled at my mom when she called at 9:30 am because he was still sleeping. The straw that broke the camel's back was when someone wrote in the stairwell of the dorm "kill jews." So of course they had a floor meeting to discuse this. Well I love Walter E. Williams' idea on crime and punishment: "We could adopt a better approach to crime control by showing criminals the same kind of mercy that they show their victims." So i said we should put a video camera up and find the guy who did and deal with him accordingly. Well my roomate said to me after the meeting in our room, 'That's just like you conservative bastards to take punishment to the extreme.' Well after that i got a new roomate, luckly much more TOLERANT.
My point is there are those extreme people on BOTH sides; however, I just see more liberals that are that extreme. Realize I'm VERY conservative but I'm extremely tolerant to liberal ideas. My knowledge tells me that if the government were controlled by just republicans it would got to hell and if liberals controlled the government it would go to hell to. We need both liberal and conservative ideas are not facts but ideas and many people don't understand that.
