they need land I guess. I mean look at the "park" in saigon/ho chi minh city, the one that used to be a cemetary.

Not sure which is better having people dug up and moved/cremated or as in the countryside they just build around people's grave. I saw grave markers in the middle of side walks, in the back of people's homes.

That seems partially logical. What sort of age are we talking here? I've seen gravestones from the 1800's in some local cemetaries... what would they do with the headstones anyway? Think they have good resale value? 😉 haha

I plan on being cremated and kept in an old pickle jar in the garage, so I really don't know or care what happens with a grave. 😛

nah I really don't mind, but I agree with Jeff7- it's what you DO in your life that should matter.

I also planned on being cremated, with my ashes spread somewhere.
 
I, like some of you, will likely be cryogenically frozen. Not a particularly romantic conclusion to a biological existence, and it's probably only temporary. Otherwise, I'd want to be eaten by wild animals.
 
No, graves aren't forever (at least not in the Netherlands)
We simply don't have the space for all the graves.

(family) graves have a max. 20 year license after which it has to be renewed.


 
I want to be shot out of a canon into the sun, if I can't get that, a rocket is good enough for me.

It's 20 years here, too. At least for Christian cemeteries. But there's a Jewish cemetery near here with eternal graves.

Good topic, I've wondered this at times too and never remembered to look it up! I fall under the 'I'm dead, who cares' catagory through. Put me in a rubbermaid container and bury me out back!

No let the dead have their 10'x5' patch of land. Your thinking is more narrow than that. Many people are not buried in that way anyways. Many municpalities already have some master plan.

I have requested that when the event happens, I'm cremated, and my remains spread wherever my descendants would be reminded of me. The whole idea of being dropped into a box which is dropped into the ground is repugnant to me, and highly wasteful. What would I rather my family do with the money than buy a coffin ... ANYTHING.

I'll one up you, I want to be frozen and launched into space in something with a self sustaining fusion reaction with the capability of identifying planets with technology superior to ours. Hopefully they'll be able to bring me back....and without the need for any kind of anal probe stuff.

I'll probably be cremated so I don't waste space.
