Are cars even practical any more?

I work opposite of the flow of traffic. I work two train stations down. Yet I still drive. Yes, I'll be the first to admit. I'm a lazy ass. But I'll be taking on a second job at the other end of the city, so I guess that makes it ok.

I do dread driving with everybody else on the way to work. The infrastructure is insufficent to accomodate the ever growing city. I do enjoy some weekend joy riding though. Especially at nights when the traffic is much lighter.

I hate to burst your bubble, especially since I tend to agree with you to a certain extent, but I have a friend who sold his car and rode his bike to work and everywhere else he needed to go for about 6 months and he actually consumed more in food than he saved in gasoline and insurance (he owned the car so that didn't enter into the equation).

by your logic, cars/trains/planes/any transporation means has never been practical and never will.
