Are cars even practical any more?

It sounds absurd to have something that weighs a ton and a half (and often much more) to move around a person that weighs approximately 8 percent of one ton!

never really been practical in that sense, but what are the alternatives in this day and age?

in most major cities around the world, you can get by through fairly extensive subway systems. I love the metro :)

Yeah..OP you live in NYC, where public transportation is everywhere. Many of the rest of us have no other practical way of getting from Point A to B.

If i could walk or bike to work and school, i would LOVE it. But unfortunately i can't.

I despise driving soooo much. I'm thinking getting a new vehicle, something like an Acura MDX or TSX will make driving a lot more enjoyable.

I live about 180 mile round trip commute from work. Most of it is on the highway with other big dangerous fast moving vehicles. Where I live the weather changes a lot, and it might be snowing/sleeting/raining/etc. How do you suggest I travel to work and back in a safe, comfortable, and efficient manner? There are no easy trains, or any public transportation that would work.

Advice please... I believe a car is practical for me,

Actually I'm in NYC less than two months a year and that figure goes down from there. :)

I can run 20mph

But for how long? I can run ~6mph for anything under 4-5 miles.

Yes, I know I'm out of shape, I'm working on it! :p

Sure you can...

Fastest record is from Michael Johnson and he came out to 10.35 m/s or around 23.15 and I would like to see you keep that up for 10 minutes. :p

Maybe you are pointing the radar down there while your hand is busy... :p
