Apparently, the white part is poisonous and the black core counteracts the poison.. ??
Any med students here?

Is this a serious question? I think that this is one medically related question that ATOT can answer.

No, eating bananas will not kill you, it is a good source of potassium. Unless you have kidney problems and consume too much potassium/bananas, you should be fine.

I think its safe to say that the biological student who told you this is an idiot.

did the science student then ask you to counteract the poison by "inflating his sausage"?

Uh oh... when I eat a banana I don't really tend to have a black core... or much of one anyway.

Am I going to die?

Well, you can slip on the peel and seriously injure yourself, just ask any guy in an animated comedy.

Its like, ya know, like a well known fact.

I don't know, but they are definitely radioactive. I believe the isotope is K-40. Don't worry though, I think the source in your average banana is like 1 nC, or maybe just a little more than that, which is essentially harmless.

I'm not joking, there are actually a lot of food products with detectable amounts of radioactive isiotopes in them. Eating a bunch of bananas won't hurt you, you're well below the average yearly radiation dosage unless you fly a lot or experience prolonged exposure.

LOL...i don't think they're poisonous, BUT...i know you can take the peelings (the strings) scrapings and bake them for however long till they're brittle, then you roll it up like a joint and smoke it and it does have a *slight* affect like pot. It has to be a big large amount though. ^_^

Biology is the experimenting with things, dissecting dead creatures, and taking instructions from a teacher, who is, experimenting, as well. So, I'm positive your friend is an expert. So, Bananas are poisonous for sure, dude! ;)

I suppose if you ate thousands of them in a short period of time you could get a lethal dose of potassium....
