TFNN is making a huge dent in the AT numbers.

i thought mostly banned members went there? I guess its good for people who want anarchy, but its not so great for people who browse from work.

why do do we need 2 threads on this subject anyway?
I lurk and sometimes post over there and I'm not banned. I do wish I could go to TFNN from work though but can't risk it since I never know what might pop up in any given thread.

That's part of the fun....TFNN - It's like Russian Roulette for your browser.
I can't play with guns at work. :(

not even glue guns?

Yeah looks to be that way. I didn't realize in 2003 (as seen in the screenshot) it was that busy... there's at least a few threads with replies every minute.

But it's still fine here. I like the new categories, and there's still a ton of traffic. Can't say I miss "competitions" of people bumping threads and posting useless shit over and over anyway.

Also, the alexa.com graph appears to be doing anandtech.com as a whole, even though the forums subdomain was specified. It says about 2/3 of the total traffic is for anandtech.com, so there's probably more of a dropoff there.

I post more now, but in fewer forums. There's WAY too many of them now, half the time I'm not even sure where to post anymore.

Like in the WTB forum, it's not as active. in OT its very active. If only more new members join Anandtech and make the forums even more active than before.

It's scary for new members. First you have to learn the lingo, and then you have to learn who's prone to posting utter BS so you won't get laughed at for responding.

It's certainly less edgy now. Most of the mods seem to feel that ATOT should be considered as family safe as Barney the Dinosaur, early morning PBS shows, and ponies. Like this place is crawling with 14 year olds or something.

I think that, unfortunately, ATOT has gone downhill. I never liked how the moderation was done here (seemingly random) and now that the forum has been split into so many parts it sort of killed a lot of the vibe.

perhaps there in the future there should be a way just to display main forum.. like click on social, and you can see all the posts from social sub-forum. you have the option to just browse the sub-forum

It's because they split one category off into 40 kajillion categories. Off topic used to be a one-stop shop for all things that weren't computer related. Now you need to browse like 9 categories for the same stuff.

I have to agree with this... instead of ATOT ftw, now all you get is a bunch of people telling you that you are in the wrong forum...
