at my high school, truly about 90% of all clothes worn by people are either American Eagle or Abercrombie and Fitch. I always just assumed that it's what all highschool kids do...except me. then it hit me: maybe other schools/ other parts of the country aren't the same.

btw I'm in middle-class small suburb in norcal

First, lets just say many of the kids have really rich parents in this area.

Here, AF/AE was a middle school thing and now in High School here people were pretty much anything they want, and I hardly see any AF/AE clothing.

If 90% of the kids at your school wear AF/AE, then not all HS kids would be wearing them, would they? 😀

i dont see much of those clothing line at all.... though i do wear AE clothing 😛

what i see alot here is A|X... (East Coast, NYC)

A lot of people do but I think the whole brand name deal i stupid. Yes, you should look nice but as long as it works then it's fine. It doesn't have to be a certain brand name. The hot girl in my Japanese class still looked hot even though she was wearing jeans from Macy's. The ugly girl in those $70 A&F Jeans still looked like crap.

Never worn anything by those companies, but I wonder why

I don't mind if they wear it.. let them wear it wtf.

Ever seen the $60 price tag on a pair of pants? Now imagine buying a bunch of those so you can wear one every day and not wear the same thing more than once a week. What is that? $420? For a kid in middle school? (Was in my middle school a very common thing, luckily I avoided)

My school is

car + grades + house = status

No matter how ugly you are, if you got a nice ride, and you're smart, you can get good looking chicks.

Why do you really care what they wear ?
If they can afford it, then more power to them.

We are jealous or we think they are blowing their money on stupid things.

What people like to spend their money on is their business. Personally I'd like a good balance of everything, but that's just me.

If somebody wants a $2000 computer and a $200 wardrobe, compared to somebody who wants a $1300 computer and a $900 wardrobe, who cares?

I never wore that stuff until I met my girlfriend... she says I look good in AE stuff, so I have a few shirts from there. I get most of my pants from Old Navy, some stuff from Gap, and everything else from the Salvation Army. Most of my friends in HS, being runners, tend to wear running shirts or Salvation Army stuff. There are a few who could work as mannequins for American Eagle though. See, I like to mix people up, so one day I'll dress like a AE posterchild, and then the next day I'll wear ripped jeans and a Metallica t-shirt. It's all about shattering stereotypes.

Macy's isn't exactly bargain shopping 🙂. One of my best friends has a lot of stuff from places like Ross and other bargain stores and she is extremely attractive. Her body can pretty much make any clothing look good. And yes, the ugly or grossly overweight girls wearing A&F or American Eagle still look like crap. Most of my clothes are from Macy's/JC Penny/Gap/Banana. I'm in my freshman year at college. I get a lot of compliments on the way I dress, even though I dont' consider myself a fashion person. I just pick two items of clothing that don't make me look like an idiot and that's all that really matters to me.

Typically yes though, mainstream high school teens and/or wannabe's try to shop exclusively at A&F.
