i dont see much of those clothing line at all.... though i do wear AE clothing 😛

what i see alot here is A|X... (East Coast, NYC)

Yeah... i have college friends who wear that A|X stuff... along with their $40k car... 😕

But yeah most of them wear A&F and Hollister

pretty much the trends in high school are either:

a)trendy clothing (i.e. AF/AE/Gap/Old Navy)
b)cheap-as-you-can-find-as-well-as-old-ass-looking (i.e. lost and found, salvation army)

now, i've been known to shop from salvation army, but the only worthwhile purchase i made from there was a bozo the clown t-shirt.

at my high school, truly about 90% of all clothes worn by people are either American Eagle or Abercrombie and Fitch. I always just assumed that it's what all highschool kids do...except me. then it hit me: maybe other schools/ other parts of the country aren't the same. btw I'm in middle-class small suburb in norcal
didn't read the last part earlier. Which city/town are you in? I'm in Walnut Creek

Another one of these HS angst posts? WHO CARES what someone is wearing? Brand names have never meant anything to me, but I prefer the style of AE/AF/Structure to Walmart, Macy's, JCPenny's, Rich's, etc. It has nothing to do with cost or what other people wear. I have always done my own thing but there is nothing wrong with having a little style in your life. Wearing jeans tight jeans with a star wars t-shirt just isn't something that floats my boat...

I don't mind if they wear it.. let them wear it wtf.

Ever seen the $60 price tag on a pair of pants? Now imagine buying a bunch of those so you can wear one every day and not wear the same thing more than once a week. What is that? $420? For a kid in middle school? (Was in my middle school a very common thing, luckily I avoided)

So? There are people that spend 420 dollars on a pair of Jeans! The brands listed are nothing compared to Prada, Gucci, Armani, etc.

Fight the power, huh? I'm sorry if I happen to like what AE's style of clothing looks like, that's me. If Wal-Mart sold clothes that looked like AE's I'd probably get some. I've shopped at Wal-Mart and Target before, and I have found some decent stuff there, but I really don't care for most of their stuff. I guess that's just me going with the mindless culture.

I don't care, I don't wear AF/AE, I wear whatever I feel like. I really don't care what other people are wearing unless either they are ugly or what they're wearing is really ugly.

Big thing around my HS is Hollister...

But yeah, none of those stores have stuff for big people like me, so I'm pretty much stuck with department stores/Walmart.

When I was in HS (graduated in 1999), I had never seen any AF, AE, BR, etc. clothing. I went to a pretty well off HS, but the there were no AF stores in the city. So when I graduated I ended up at a university where the average family income was about $150k-$200k and EVERYONE was wearing Abercrombie & Fitch shirts. It was everywhere. I, being from a city that didn't even have an AF store at the time, had no idea what these people were wearing. A couple of other people from my city also went to the same school - one of them even guessed that AF was some sort of mail order catalog clothing. It was a strange experience. 🙂

But anyways, there's nothing wrong with buying stuff from these stores. If someone wants to buy $60 jeans (which really isn't much IMO), then that's no big deal. Personally, I wouldn't want to wear pleated pants with old sneakers and a nasty torn up video game shirt. Wear whatever you want. I don't like wearing AF or AE stuff, but I like some of the stuff from Structure, BR, etc.

dunno if you knew but Hollister is owned by Abercrombie. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is between the two stores. Some people were like, yeah Hollister is Abercrombie's teen store. So what's Abercrombie, and adult store (well, with the near-nudity on the walls i guess it could be considered one haha).

Wow... college admissions standards ought to require that you be able to spell some of the most commonly misspelled words and phrases... like "a lot." 🙂

At my high school (in 1998). It was broken up about like this:

40%- Abercrombie and Fitch type clothes. Expensive stuff.
30%- Generic Walmart clothes.
20%- All black with chains and spikes and that crap.
10%- Old hand-me-down clothes of poor quality.

I was, and still am, in the second group.
