i know. but the national guard is the closest thing to a militia that we have. well, maybe the LAPD lolz... but the point was not every citizen should own a gun, just those who directly protect our soil only in regulated conditions.

My point is that you are conflating words and meanings like they're going out of style. This is both confusing and makes it look like you don't know what you're talking about.

No, Militia isn't the Army.
No, the constitution doesn't say something about pursuing happiness.
No, the constitution doesn't say "a well regulated army."
No, well regulated militia doesn't mean "National Guard." It could, that is one of many meanings.

Yes, there are potential arguments over what the founders meant by "well regulated militia." But you throwing out a bunch of generalized language and thinking it makes any sort of sense isn't working out very well.

its clear he's trolling because he's pissed that his hobby is illegal where ours is legal AND protected by the constitution.

no.. well ok yes but no because my hobby is protected by multiple points in the constitution just not directly. most of the constitution was written to protect people who mind their own business and dont effect other people. at least thats what i thought it was for! who knows maybe its a letter from satan and i just didnt ask anandtech yet! 😀

HAHAHAHAHA! Yes, you heard it here first folks, weed is protected under the Constitution! 😀

Don't get me wrong I'm all for legalization, but making a Constitutional argument for weed is just lol.

1st, 4th, 5th, 8th and 10th amendments all are violated every time i was caught.

I'm curious to what part would even remotely be considered as protecting a plant or how that plant is used?

It was? Obama came out in support of such a ban fresh from re-election, the mainstream media was parroting the Brady Campaign and presenting their usual uninformed "expertise", and the public was in emotional shock. Conditions seemed primed for Obama to push a ban at least through the Senate, and then strong-arm Republicans in the house.

It wasn't "clear" that an AWB would fail until Harry Reid announced he wouldn't allow it to be part of the main bill.

Ever since Clinton, and as continually renewed by the acts of people like Governor Cuomo and the state of California, I think gun owners have a right to be a little paranoid. I find it extremely sad that we have to resort to NRA lobbying to protect a core right.
I'm as liberal as they come and would love to ban AR-15s but the only hope I had with legislation was better background checks and the banning of high capacity magazines. Yes, it was clear there would be no banning of assault rifles if you look at what is required to get legislation passed. 60 votes in the Senate, a majority in the House, and the President agreeing. Unless people were rioting in the street for banning of ARs, it wasn't going to happen. Congress knew any real gun legislation was dead even the day after Sandy Hook. It's just been a show on both sides since then with liberals now getting the chance to push back against the NRA. Reid needed every Democrat (including a lot of ones in red states) plus five Republicans. Boehner then had to bring up the bill and allow some Republicans to support it. It was never going to happen no matter how hard Obama pushed.

I am not being sarcastic when I say that this is the first P&N off topic thread I have read in a while. Still has that random tangent, bickering stank, but I made it through the whole thread before realizing I was reading the gutter wash!

civilians shouldn't be allowed to own guns. actually im not sure where in the constitution it says they are allowed to but i digress. i have been to jail 3 times for possessing a dried plant... but if i would just stockpile a small army of munitions thats totally OK because those cant hurt anyone else.. its not like the entire purpose of guns is to kill or anything... but that dried flower stuff- that effects EVERYONE around you, putting their lives in danger!

A complete pot head who's been to jail three times for drug related charges doesn't know where in the constitution it says civilians should be allowed to own guns.

Wirednuts also has no idea what the supreme court's role is and that what they say about the constitution IS the constitution and is law.

This is why he's been to jail three times.

As we all know, the Supreme Court justices are political figures who usually vote with their party. Columbia vs Heller could have gone either way. It was 5 to 4.

Let's all compromise and smoke weed while we shoot guns.

I picked up a 420 rd can of Federal 62 gr green tip for $240 shipped. Not the $150-180 they used to be but not $400 either. Fuck resellers.

Picked up a few boxes of 20 rd boxes of PMC XTac 62 gr green tip for $10 a box locally.

I think the ammo prices hurt the pocket book more. I'd rather pay more for a one time purchase and have cheaper repeated purchases, than this BS with $25 boxes of ammo. I actually have not been shooting since the day of Sandy Hook - I was at the range with a friend and he asked me if I had heard about the shooting that morning. And since then, it's simply been too expensive to shoot for fun. I can spend $100 for an hour doing other things.

H&B....H for sure.

An interesting point many aren't aware of, if you are on medical marijuana the ATF views you as prohibited from owning firearms, being as it is illegal federally.

LMAO, The typical twitter user/gen y is right here folks. Ignorant of everything, yet focused on debauchery. Kudos.

I still think ARs are pussy guns, step up to something that is above a .22 folks! And before anyone whines that "Blitz Blitz, ARs can have the caliber change by just switching the buffer/bolt/upper" yes, I know that. The gun was originally designed around/best known for selling the .223/5.56mm caliber.

.30+ or Die

Were you at the weed smoking meeting in Colorado a few days ago? 😛

This true? While I don't do anything with marijuana, I'm not sure how they can limit you if it's signed off as a medical thing. I've seen chronic pain sufferers with opiate therapy buy guns without issue... I should point out I also know that the feds don't accept MM as a thing as the chronic pain people aren't allowed to use it while going through a pain management program as the doctor's license to run the program comes from the feds not the state.

Where? Gunbot is showing $0.80/rd pricing on 62gr, occasionally dipping below.

militia has multiple meanings, and if you put the term "well regulated" in front of it, its essentially the national guard.
This. To me, a well regulated militia is the national guard. A bunch of regular citizens who take some time out of their lives to train and work within an organization. Joe schmoe holding a six pack of bud and a 12 gauge on his jonboat doesn't quite cut it.
