I thought it was a real robot. You just killed the magic for me. Another piece of my childhood has been ripped from my soul. :(

And Godzilla was a guy in a rubber suit. If you can't trust the entertainment business life just isn't worth living.

Just started watching episode 1 ... got about 10 seconds in and turned it off. I had to because I couldn't stop laughing!

So Lost in Space is a "NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES"? Since when?

I'll take a look when I can keep it all down ...

Once you get over your inability to grasp the definition of "original series" you still shouldn't bother taking a look. This is yet another reboot that has no reason to exist other than trying to cash in on a familiar name. I watched the first episode and a half and didn't want to watch more. As pretty as it is (and it does look great) it doesn't have anything else going for it. The word is "meh". It's not awful, but it's not really good at anything either. The characters are lame, the leaping from cliffhanger to cliffhanger, desperate no-way-out situation followed by another desperate no-way-out situation followed by desperate no-way-out situation followed by another desperate no-way-out situation is so forced and contrived. The situations are not exciting because the characters are not compelling enough to care if they live or die and you know they're going to live anyway. So why bother? It's not silly and campy enough to be an homage to the original series and it's not good enough sci-fi to stand on its own. I give it a 5/10, exactly middle of the road, not memorable as being good or being bad. Not memorable at all.

Your loss- their new shows are the best things on TV. Stranger Things, Jessica Jones, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Everything Sucks + like 50 others. Commercial free, some have some quality T&A, and fantastic writing.

Another awesome thing is that they release the entire season at once so if you can binge watch if you have time.

I am now at episode 7 and the series is a bit standard. The standard stuff, hierarchy fighting.

Heated discussions about saving a life or saving the fuel and then while the fuel is leaking away everybody is just standing there and watching it leak away...

Ouch .. that hurt. Please, PLEASE explain the definition of "original series" to me.

Please, I'm unable to grasp!

Clearly you are. Star Trek TNG is an original series using an old name. The 2001 version of Ocean's 11 is original, it used no footage from the 1960 version.

Was this series created by some outlet other than Netflix? Was it broadcast by someone other than Netflix? Is it a direct copy of something else or is it something new that borrows an old name?

Want me to go on? Words have many many many definitions and uses depending on context. Like "dumb" could mean "lacking the power of speech" or "lacking intelligence; slow-witted; stupid". Guess which one applies to you.

They had no way to stop it from doing that is my guess.

The bigger issue I had with that episode was:
They did nothing to lighten the load of the vehicle carrying the fuel.

They had 4 people in it while the one without only had 3 and they didn't remove any of the gear it seemed either.

I haven't watched it all, but it's not bad. I like the incomprehensible technology the robot provides rather than some version of Robbie. I'm not sure about Smith, but he was OK in the first few episodes of the original series and then we eventually went to a guy in a carrot suit. Michael Rennie as the "Keeper" was just fine and it pretty much wound up as an embarrassment like most of Irwin Allens stuff.

No, please go on. You obviously missed the intent of my previous sarcasm-laden post. You have two choices ... you can (1) let this go and stop replying or (2) you can continue to pontificate, in a pedantic manner. It is your choice ...

Watched the first 5 episodes over the weekend- the writing reminds me of Battlestar Galactica, with the flashbacks to fill in the story as things progress. I like the kids, but Don West is a bit annoying. Not sure about the father either. Love what they're doing with the Robot (he's more of a guard dog and is adopting the family...kind of heartwarming). The new Dr. Smith take is...very confusing (but in a good way). I seriously have no idea what she's after. She just seems plain nuts! :D

Overall, the storytelling is a bit slow as they're focusing of character development, and a lot of the characters aren't quite fleshed out yet. Has potential though!

Amazing how they can race their buggies all around the huge forest with no roads. Guess the trees don't die and fall over there.

On and of course the gun zealots are outraged complaining the show is "anti gun."
http://thefederalist.com/2018/04/17/anti-gun-plotline-lost-space-forced-ludicrous/

That is kind of overreacting.
The only thing i agree on, is it is better to be prepared because if there is life on another planet, it will need to feed.
And if that life resembles anything as on Earth, it might find humans a tasty snack.
Of course, there is no reason to start shooting like Tex gunslinger at every occasion an alien lifeform pops up.
But special suits and weapons for first reconnaissance would be good.
The silly behavior in the movie Prometheus is just wrong.
Protocol is everything.

Just finished the season. 8/10.
Liked the Jessica Harris reference perhaps to the late Jonathan Harris who played Dr. Zachary Smith in the 1965-1968 TV show,

Wasn't it June Harris, for June Lockheart and Jonathan Harris?
