Be sure to top off the flash fluid when you get the tune up. It's a costly mistake I learned the hard way by not doing it.

I use my powershot daily, taking close to 70 pics a day for the last 6mo. Do I wear it out by using it so much? Does it matter? Will it die at the same time either way? Not using it for 2 mo, or using it on a daily bases? Just curious if I should put some maintainence into it. They are really hassle free, and I got to have my digital photography!

Actually, your media may be approaching the end of it's useful life. Most flash memory (and yes, ALL media cards are a form of flash memory) is good for about 1000 rewrites... Assuming you only have one card that holds a day's pics, you've used it 10x as long as you should.

Even if he rewrites once a day (that's extremely excessive), he theoretically has ~3 years, which is quite a lot.

OBVIOUSLY if you use something you are causing it to break down and shorten its lifespan, but thats what you bought it for...to use! if you let it sit there for 2 months and use it again, you will not gain any life for the camera, it will just last a longer amount of time, not produce more pictures overall.

I've shot about 30K pictures on my old sony p-71. I've dropped it down stairs and on concrete an uncountable amount of times. Still fires them off without a hitch.
There is no maintenece to be done on a low end point and shoot digital camera. They are made to be disposable and their price reflects that.
