apple wants samsung to pay 40 per phone

Yes, many were just stuck, but others were totally borked. And that doesn't address the other issues I mentioned.

But whatever, Believe what you want. Doesn't make you right. As you said to someone else, I don't have time to waste on your nonsense. No reason to waste my time as your fanboyism won't let you listen anyway. I do find rabid defense of any company's product by end users a bit amusing though.

Someone has to set the record straight, otherwise people try to rewrite history. Especially when it comes to Apple.

Wasn't iOS 7 so crash happy that Apple acknowledged the problem?

Only on the new 64-bit A7 devices (5s and latest iPads). Even then, it's not very disruptive when Safari crashes or the device repsprings. Double-tap the home button to bring it up again, and it's usually right where you left it.

Also, as promised, those occasional crashes on A7 devices seem to have stopped with the recent 7.1 update.

Apple has been copying and stealing technology from day one. Then they file for patents for stuff other people developed, and sue others over it. Microsoft has been doing similar stuff, and yes, Samsung has been copying a lot too. Lots of technology companies copy stuff that works. If customers find something useful and the usability level is very high then changing it totally or leaving it out is not really an option. What sets Apple apart from Samsung is that it has focussed on basically re-releasing 'old' technology that failed back then because the market was still too small and having it succeed basically because the Apple-fans follow their leader even more blindly than the Nazis used to do. Just look back at the iMac days. You slap some outdated hardware in a shiny plastic box in different colours (and sell it for double the price of the newest PCs, or 5 times the price a PC with similar outdated hardware) and Apple fans claim that those are better and faster than the best PCs around, simply because it has the Apple logo on it.

do people in this thread have so much hate for apple that they seriously can't see how apple revolutionized the smartphone, and specifically, the tablet market? regardless of whether you want to fuck steve jobs or murder him 100x over, it's clear as shit that the iphone and the ipad started the big boom of smart phone and tablets. there is a reason why all of the smart phones coming out after that aren't like blackberry's for the most part, and why most tablets coming out after that aren't like the old PDA's with stylus.

one thing i will never understand is blind hatred for a person/company that you literally have absolutely 0 vested interest in. it is just a concept that i simply cannot grasp.

Weird, I had an iPhone 4 for 2 years and the only issue I had later on was the non-responsive home button, and guess what, there was a 2 second fix for it which resolved the problem. Is that the "plague" you're talking about? I also knew several people with iPhone 4's that owned them for years with no issues.

But let's pretend it did have issues. If the iPhone 4 was bad, the competition was dog sh!t. It wasn't even close.

i still have my iphone 4 that i got when verizon first offered it back in feb of 2011 and it works just fine. it's literally the only smart phone i've ever had.

oh and before i get called an apple fanboy, i also own a nexus 7 tablet that i like.

Apple sucks fucking balls and so do its users. The only good thing is its OS, but not enough to make me want to pay more for the overpriced shit hardware that accompanies it. Have fun with your "Applecare" when it breaks hahaha.

I still have and use my iPhone 4 I bought in autumn 2010, iOS 7.1 is butter smooth and the phone works without a hitch.

It doesn't matter who revolutionized what, or who stole from whom. The fact that a company wants $40 per device sold for 5 patents has gone past extortion and into ludicrous territory. Most licensing deals are a lot cheaper and it covers and entire company's portfolio of patents.

Let's say the judge grants Apple's request and Samsung really has to pay $40 dollars to Apple for each device. It makes HTC's deal with Microsoft look more like a coup for HTC since that covers the thousands of patents Microsoft holds.

i wasn't even discussing that so i'm not sure why you quoted me to state your point.

Yeah that same applecare that fixes cracked iPhone screens for free. That same applecare that has in person help in the majority of large cities across the US. That same applecare that doesn't require you to ship your computer anywhere (at your own cost of course) and wait 3- 5 weeks for a repair. That same applecare that fixes issues they clearly dont have to.

I have never heard someone mock applecare before. Can you show me another company that will fix or give you a free replacement if you crack the screen of your smartphone?

Yeah, making fun of Applcare is pretty idiotic. It's by far the most helpful warranty I've ever seen or used. I've literally been in and out of an Apple store in less than 5 minutes for a warranty situation. It's comical how stupid people are about hating Apple sometimes.

Also had a guy that I worked with that owned an Android phone because he needed to do things that he couldn't do on an iPhone. Fair enough. Definitely had respect for his choice because it wasn't based on some stupid "I hate Jobs" reasoning. I just find that to be absolutely moronic.

People get way too emotionally attached to their electronics. Nerds.

when did the anti-fanboys get more annoying than fanboys though? that is the time in history i cannot pinpoint. i will just blame it on social media because it made everyone think they are important so they are a lot more vocal now.

I wonder when phones are going to "normalize" to the rest of the PC/Tech world with sane markups of under 20%

I'm sick of all the major players suing each other or crying about how they have such a hard time in the business where the phones that cost them $200 to manufacture sell for $650.

Apple is the furthest thing from having a hard time right now.

Smartphones are luxury items and luxury items have high markups. The 4960x has a higher profit margin than the i3-4130 though they cost the same to make.
