I have been hearing a lot of people complaining about the lack of Santa Rosa. What does it bring to the table the the macbook doesn't have?

I'm guessing that Apple is saving the Santa Rosa move for the MacBook Pros, along with LED backlights.

Nothing, aside from maybe a faster integrated processor (GMA3000?). Anandtech's front page has an article about the Santa Rose, but the fastest CPU is only 2.4 and the existing fastest Merom is 2.33. Meh.

That's pretty lame. I was really hoping for the Macbooks to get Santa Rosa before I head off to college in August.

There are some decent price drops on the previous C2D Macbook at Amazon. I just ordered the bottom-end Macbook for $920 AR.

I think that now they are more officially announcing the presence of the 802.11n chips in the laptops.

Don't be too upset at the lack of Santa Rosa. The X3100 would have helped, but the bus speed difference wouldn't be earth-shattering. You can certainly tell that they're saving all the nice toys for the MacBook Pro.

Teh X3100 is the new graphics chip right? DX10 integrated intel graphics... might not be such a bad thing. But so long as my macbook is alive and well, i shall refrain from purchasing any new machines

I really wish they make a smaller version of the Pro. The Macbooks just look too delicate with the white plastics - I love mine but I'm borderline afraid to use it.

Actually, the MacBook is probably tougher in terms of drops. Polycarbonate plastic is sturdy. It's just more scratch-sensitive than the aluminum of the MacBook Pro.

I know that i have beaten the carp out of my macbook. I am a bit of a jerk to my electronics not very delicate at all. I remember one time I was writing up something for a class, but we had to use this one forum to type on. That site wasn't very firefox friendly, so when I went to open a new tab on the site, it opened up in that window. I hit back, and all the stuff i had typed over the last 20 minutes was gone (you could save, but then only could open the save once, never re-save it, and if you didnt post it on that second opening, you lost the post).

I slammed the lif shut on my macbook, and then swung my hand upwards, catching the edge of the laptop. It flew a couple of feet into the air, and landing back on the table battery side up... hard. I opened up the machine, and after about 5-10 seconds (instead of the usual 0 seconds) OS X came back and everything was fine. I have had no problems whatsoever with it (hardware wise, a couple of times i would have 3rd party software screw stuff up)
