Free market economy. If people are stupid and companies cater to said stupid people for a price premium, it's none of my business.

Could it be that Apple intentionally block Flash so that everything has to go thru their app store which they have full control of? With Flash you can watch youtube and hulu without any app, you can play Free flash games... and I don't think Apple likes that.

It's a fail yet it will outsell every competiting portable device 100x. I wonder how apple manages this. Anything they make becomes a huge fad (look at the ipod and iphone) and their fambois will flock over to anything they put out.

comparing an ipad to an iphone or ipod is ridiculous. The Ipod/Iphone are actually good products.

Simple truth in advertising should have required Apple to call it the Ifad.

I just don't see the point in a device that is primarily made for browsing the internet not supporting Flash. Like it or not, Flash is a huge part of the internet experience.

I said this last year when the rumor started about an Apple tablet:

OSX or bust

There are many, many, many more free games on the intarweb, where Apple doesn't have to approve your game for you to be able to share it.

Exactly, through the app store.
Apple couldn't claim to have 94% of app store "sales" without the free apps, nor could they claim billions of apps etc.

Free brings in traffic. Plus the developers have to pay anyway just to get their app on the app store, free or not, AFAIK (although it's only like $100).

Most telling part of the article "Apple says no to Good ideas everyday". Yea, they do. They say yes to the bad ones like the iPad as it exists.

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=17773

Timmy Cook, time to wake the F up and smell the steaming pile of *** that is your iPad.

Comparing it to a Netbook is just embarassing:

Here, let's start with basics:

Netbook checks, iPad lacks:

USB?
Expansion?
Flash?
Webcam?
Video Output?

iPad checks:

1/2 ass OS

So an iPad twice as expensive as a Netbook but lacks nearly all of the features that make it a fully functioning computer is what your company can do when you put all of your "wood behind it".

Apple please pull that core out of your ass and just admit you are mostly a fashion accessory company.

Disclaimer: Owner of a Macbook and Ipods. Disappoint.

ipad has $15/month wireless internet, your netbook has $59/month wireless internet. for that reason, many people will buy ipad instead of netbooks

Most people have 3G phone, which they can tether to a netbook, so this is moot.

Can you even tether to an iPad?

tethering is also mildly alkward--get out two devices, turn both devices on, assuming both are charged, connect, etc.. a little inconvenient if you just want to send an email or check a webpage

doesnt that still cost $59? im pretty sure it does with my company, verizon. also with the cut down os, the ipad probably boots up faster, has better battery life (?), and has a slicker interface for 90% of what people do on mobile devices. how many times do you use your cell phone to send email instead of waiting for your netbook to boot and connect. there is a market out there for tablets, and it is the market that is currently serviced by netbooks, although this first iteration of the ipad may not quite satisfy it totally

People need to stop buying stuff with the iPhone OS on it. It forces you to get all your software in one place and Apple acts like a gatekeeper. If apple continues to be successful, other companies may take up on it (i.e. Microsoft) and we will have less choices. I don't mind this restriction for video game consoles but for computers it's a terrible idea.

"Most" people have a data plan that's around $15/mo and a 3G phone that supports tethering?! Where do you live exactly?

I am waiting for Notion Ink Adam, iPad can pound sand. Apple won't be deciding which apps I get to run.

I wanted the Crunchpad to see the light. A cheap (I'd have paid $300) touchscreen web browser is all I want. The iPad doesn't interest me at all.

ugh talk about weeks late to the party, shouldn't your rant have been in one of those first threads on this?

the point of the ipad is as an at a moment use device, whip it out and its on and ready. that is not the same at all with your netbook which is as much trouble to use as a laptop. and you will always think twice before whipping that out.

lol the j00j00's last announced price was 499 i believe:p so much for 199. if you are so poor you need every level of connectivity for your sh*t netbook even if it does it all poorly then frankly the ipad isn't for you:p ipad owner most probably will have a real laptop or desktop that will do those things correctly, and won't have to rely on some half assed tech like a netbook to do such things.
