Apple releasing software to allow Macs to run XP

Good for apple for doing this, but listen to the crap they spew..

"Apple has no desire or plan to sell or support Windows, but many customers have expressed their interest to run Windows on Apple's superior hardware now that we use Intel processors," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

I'm no Apple fanboy but I'll be the first to admit that the MBP is probably the most appealing laptop out there. Once they get the early production bugs out it'll be a damn fine piece of hardware.

The real question is (since we were already able to dualboot Windows) when will ATI release drivers compatible with the X1600 in the MBP?

i think the price gap has narrowed. and if you are talking laptops, only the thinkpads match the quality of the apple laptops. and the thinkpads aren't that much less than the apple laptops.

The Boot Camp burns a CD with the drivers Windows needs to recognize Mac-specific hardware.

i wonder if those are the ati drivers.

You guys are VERY short sighted - they do NOT charge twice the amount of similar pc hardware. Tell me where you can get a pc with specs similar to the dual core macmini with a warranty and the stash of excellent programs that they include (including the iLife suite). $799 is a great deal for a system so small and powerful. Of course, my next system will be conroe based but, still, stop being ignorant.

In the Macrumours post, it says that Boot Camp does have drivers for the video card, networking, etc... Woot!

I don't know if you ever seen and touched a Powerbook but they are heads and tails above any PC laptop. Go into frys they have powerbooks and everything else on display you'll see.

i think the thinkpad line is close to the quality of the apple line. but other than that.

i do like the new Compaq/HP line of laptops tho.

Quality maybe thinkpad can compete but not in industrial design. Same reason apple owns MP3 player market

mb not in looks but the thinkpads are pretty well designed.

oh btw, there is one feature in XP that i haven't been able to find in OS X, mb one of you OS X experts can enlighten me.

with Windows XP, we have the ability to write and add onto a written cd using Windows Explorer, no 3rd party software needed, no open close sessions, no formating cd etc.

does OS X have anything like that?

I guess I wasn't in class that day. What is the deal? It seems stupid to me. I'd much rather have OS X on my X-series Thinkpad than XP on a Powerbook.

I suppose a Mini with MCE would also be good if that ever came available.

I love Apple industrial design, but OSX does crap for me.
