The other problem is memory. It is NOT user upgradable. You either have to pay Apple's prices for RAM, or else pay a technician to install it. It might be a good idea to wait for third party resellers to offer their free memory or cheap memory deals with this. If you install it yourself, you void the warranty.

Is it physically unable to be done by the user (because of special tools, propietary, etc) or does it just void the warranty. I don't mind that it voids the warranty but if it is not user upgradeable that sucks.

Totally not true. RAM is user installable from iBook, to Powerbook, to eMac, to iMac, to PowerMac. I know, I've installed RAM on all those Macs. And no it doesn't void the warranty. Go to Apple Support and search for RAM upgrade, and you'll get a how to guide. If Apple doesn't want you to install RAM yourself, they wouldn't put up a how to guide. Buy Crucial brand RAM from Newegg.com or Crucial.com. Of course, if you want cheap, pretty much anything from Outpost deals will work.

 
voiding the warranty wouldn't scare me since they only offer a crappy 90 day warranty....if i could drop a gig of memory in there for cheap, i'd consider getting one just to play with panther
 
the mac mini beats the crap out of every mini-itx box iv seen.

"Just" voids the warranty. I'd rather just wait a month and order from a 3rd party reseller. They'd install extra RAM for free.

"Memory upgrade must be performed by an Apple Authorized Service Provider."

That line is NOT there for the iMac/eMac/PowerBook/iBook. The Mac mini is a different kettle of fish.

Pretty nice, for a sub-$500 nano-ITX sized computer, esp. since OS X's 2D is OpenGL accelerated.
 
Any idea how I could share my USB Keyboard and mouse between between my PC and this Mac? I can connect it via VGA to my 193P and leave my PC DVI, but don't want two sets of keyboards and mice laying around.

Many KVMs support USB now. Just noticed it has no keyboard and mouse in that price. That's ok because I don't care for the Apple keyboard and mice anyways.
 
I thought they were going to launch Tiger too? Guess not. A question though - a 12" iBook - will it run faster with Panther or Tiger? Does Tiger feature some optimizations which will make it quicker? I remember reading in a review (perhaps it was even Anand's review) which mentioned that new OSX builds get faster and faster on the same hardware. How true is that and does it apply to the current 12" iBook? Wondering whether I should wait for when Tiger ships or get one now with Panther. Thanks!

Oh and classy new products from Apple as always!
