Your experience ignores any deficiencies with android related products. Your experience magnifies any deficiencies with apple related products. Fact.

The facts are just what I said. I've had to replace about half of the iPad cables, and none of the Android cables. You're reading into it more than what was said.

My point is that a shill is a shill. Half of apples cables fail, yet none of androids cables fail. However, 2 of the most popular android tablets out there have the same exact cable. The android herd mentality is strong with many on this forum.

Before you go on a tirade and start insulting half the forum can we get something straight.

Do you think that the apple cables are badly designed?

Back when I started in the IT field building computers we had a whole box of new hard drives from Western Digital that were bad. The next box we got all of them were fine. We also never had a Fujitsu drive fail on us, but we also used Fujitsu drives in far fewer machines than we did the WDs.

By your logic I am a Western Digital critic and a Fujitsu fanatic.

I had no idea you were that stupid.

Do you think that the apple cables are badly designed?

fixed that for you.

I dont think the apple cables are any worse than the Samsung or ASUS cables I posted above.

Yes because what I wrote had anything to do with a lame story about hard drives.

If you could comprehend what you're reading you'll see the similarities between it and the cable story.

300 iPad cables, about half of them had to be replaced so far (half of the hard drives)
100 Android tablets, none have had to be replaced so far (the Fujitsu drives that weren't used as often)

By simply telling you my experience with the cables you think I'm a shill. I didn't say there was anything fundamentally different about Apple's cables or Samsung's or ASUS's. I just said what had to be replaced and what didn't.

I guess you are that stupid.

zsdersw, you are kind of out of the control in this argument. You really need to calm down and stop calling people stupid, telling them to stop sucking _____, etc.

You have some valid points, Apple cable reliability is crap(as someone who has had a iphone 3, 3g, 4, and now a 5 plus an iPad, and several mac laptops). But calm down.

I don't care. I'm perfectly calm, and, frankly, don't give a crap if anyone has a problem with what I type.

Your posts on this forum are about as far as we need to go to asses your 'experiences'. Your experience ignores any deficiencies with android related products. Your experience magnifies any deficiencies with apple related products. Its real easy to see the herd mentality has hit you hard.

We have about 100 Android tablets.. and I haven't replaced any of them.

Wow. I cannot believe that 1/3rd of your 9-pin cables have failed already.

Tell your employees to stop playing jumprope with them!

Do you think that the apple cables are badly designed?

I do.

The 30-pin cable's jacket easily gets gunked up and begins to look frayed. And it turns all brown and sticky. Eww.

I haven't had one fail, even though it looks like that. But it's still a pretty poorly designed jacket.

Yeah I agree, I also think those other cables are badly designed.

I was just trying to dig out cheezys thoughts that were hidden under all the froth.

It's the illusion of quality.

BMW/German cars are good at this just like Apple. The second you work on these cars you find out the reality (which is quite the opposite from "quality").

I work on Macs and PCs, I have built numerous PCs and use to write PC hardware reviews for a website.

I prefer Apple products.

I don't feel like my decision is based in ignorance or by ignoring the bad (or good) for either Macs or PCs or Android. I do not get angry at PC or Android users for making that choice (I hope it works out for them) and I do not spend any time PC- or Andorid-hating. I just prefer Apple products.

When people hate on Apple, I just try to find out the basis for the opinion. I have found that, usually, there is no basis or a flimsy one. However, since Apple products are not perfect, some of the opinions have been based in fact.

Ironically, the people who have some actual facts to back up their opinion tend to be so invested in hating Apple, they fail to get their point across effectively.

I'll add my two cents (or whatever currency) here...

My bone of contention with the new lightning connector would be the price of the new cables.

I personally am very bad with handling things and break/tear/damage/lose cables in a couple of months. If I buy the new iPhone, I'll eventually end up spend a lot of money in 2 years for replacement cables... which won't be very economical for someone like me...

So, I'd skip this iPhone despite being a good smart phone and buy something that has more affordable replacements that I would have to buy during warranty....

So you prefer company that does everything they can to limit you?

If you are comparing Apple vs HP/Dell etc....sure. Unfortunately I would never buy NEITHER. And comparing Apple to home build PC is a no brainer.

That's fine, whatever floats that boat.

My biggest beef is that they limit freedom (this is one that I can't get over) and force you to use their crap/products (accessories/Itunes etc). Also price, they are way too expensive vs competition and prey on sheep/use their logo to get their money.

Which is fine, if apple can do it, more power to them.

Ironically, the people who have some actual facts to back up their opinion tend to be so invested in hating Apple, they fail to get their point across effectively.

Hope I explained clearly.

I just spent hours cause I couldn't boot up the POS Ipod after a restore, cause you know it HAD to be connected to ITunes before it would boot up.

Also it HAD to be used with Apple cable because other cables are not as good.

Whenever I deal with anything apple it just gets on my nerves.

Why is it that Ipod is up to date on software yet I can't install certain apps due to "not up to date software". Let me guess, apple doesn't want you to have up to date software so they can force you to buy their latest shitty product.

Apple hate is justified, but it's hard for someone that loves them to see it.

Mind you Ipod is not mine and I want to throw the POS against the wall.

You would face just as annoying issues with an Android phone without an official update and you wanted to use the latest software (chrome for instance) or OS.

In order to get CM10 on my Epic Touch 4g, I had to root (which is admitted very easy on Samsung phones, much easier than almost any other brand). Make sure I had the correct kernel installed (if you have an unsafe kernel you can brick your phone when moving from GB to ICS or JB) then flash CM10.

Problem is on some flashes, the GPS stops working and you have to go back to gingerbread, get a GPS lock and then reflash again to CM10 to make it work again.

If you do your research before hand it's not that hard, but it can be time consuming and annoying.

You can probably avoid this if you get a Nexus device, but then you're pretty limited in phone choice then.

I don't believe Apple hate is no more deserved than hate for any other successful company. Any hardware company would love to force you to use their cables if they could (Motorola Xoom and Asus Transformers tablets have their own special charging cable. Asus is cuz of the keyboard attachment, I don't know why Xoom has it). It just that Apple is more successful at dictating it's own terms so their an easier target to hate.

I guess I don't want to do the things that make you feel limited. I do not feel limited using Apple products.

How is your freedom limited?

and force you to use their crap/products (accessories/Itunes etc).

There are alternatives, but they are not as easy to use as those built to work with the Apple products <shock!!!>

Also price, they are way too expensive vs competition and prey on sheep/use their logo to get their money.

I addressed the cost issue above.

I just spent hours cause I couldn't boot up the POS Ipod after a restore, cause you know it HAD to be connected to ITunes before it would boot up.

Sounds like you were using it wrong ;)

Which iPod and which App?

Apple hate is justified, but it's hard for someone that loves them to see it.

Just because people keep repeating this does not make it true.

Apple... the Microsoft of 2012...

I'm of the opinion Apple is in the beginning stages of another fall like in the late 80's due to arrogance and greed. It may take a decade, but the competition has caught up. Microsoft ate their lunch then, and I think Google/Android is going to do it this time. Apple is becoming complacent, and is leveraging their present phone/tablet dominance to extract every penny they can from their customers without introducing any real game changing innovations to justify the premium. It seems the price is jacked on every other generation of their products. iPod? Bottom tier jacked $100. I'm not even going to get into the iMac and iMac mini situation. I may be wrong, but the situation seems extremely similar to why they lost their asses the first time around: they got really fucking greedy. And Jobs isn't here to save them this time.

Were you around 30 years ago when it happened the first time? Because, although I wasn't, my understanding of the situation is that it is very different this time around.

I would like to know what exactly would qualify as innovation to people, and how they can expect ANY company to provide it on a schedule.

When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone he said that up until that point, Apple had provided 2 innovations to the the tech world, the Macintosh and the iPod. The iPhone we can say is number 3. 3 major, groundshaking innovations in 40 years. So, how frequently would you say that they need to roll out innovations to satisfy YOU?

This. I think there are some who may actually expect something amazing every single year but more than likely 'lack of innovation' has just become a buzz word to bash Apple. To be honest there is no one really innovating in the mobile phone space right now. It's incremental screen upgrade here, more ram there, etc. Yet Apple is the primary group that doesn't innovate. Right.
