While I certainly agree that Jones' inciteful rhetoric is (or should be) socially unacceptable, this isn't about that. It's about the undeniable fact that Alex Jones is just as guilty of murder as Charles Manson was.

Now if only Twitter could get a handle on Trump's account in some way. He's the mother lode, the prime source of all the hate, fear and racist rhetoric that the alt-right has been saturating the media with.

He not only encourages this hateful spiteful behavior from his supporters, he revels in it, he luxuriates in it. He's like a hog in a mud wallow rolling around in the filthy muck squealing in ecstasy.

And of course, there's a shitload of his supporters looking in on that disgusting scene, cheering him on and diving right in there with him.

YouTube on Monday said it had banned Alex Jones’s Infowars channel, following similar actions taken against the controversial right-wing conspiracy theorist by other major U.S. technology companies.

After the channel violated YouTube's policies against child endangerment and hate speech, Jones was banned for trying to circumvent the site's enforcement measures, according to a source familiar with the company’s decision. The source said Jones received a 90-day moratorium on livestreaming for violating its policies and that he then tried to promote his flagship radio show on other YouTube pages, prompting a permanent ban.

“When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts,” a YouTube spokesperson said when asked for comment.

LOL, whenever you use FB, YT, IG, Twitter, Spotify, they can do whatever they damn well please. Infowars doesn't own FB. It's the same if I were a seller on Amazon or Ebay. I'm playing in their backyard. Alex was playing in FB's back yard. Alex should start his own platform. Let me know how that goes. My guess. Not so good.

I've come to the conclusion it's never worth it. Their descent in to madness is complete. It doesn't need to be witnessed or monitored any more it needs to be shut down.

No thank you. I largely ignored the whole conspiratard and pseudoscience crowds for years, just writing them off as loons. A time came when they could no longer be ignored. When they started being mainstreamed by the GOP and social media. Suddenly, the shit was in my face daily. Like batshit had broken free, multiplied and taken over.

Now one MUST be overtly against batshit. Batshit must be opposed wherever it is seen or heard.

If you want to turn this around, we must NEVER allow this very vocal minority outlets to spread their batshit. Make them fund and host their own platforms and make sure we do EVERYTHING to get them removed from other's platforms.

Alex Jones is a start, but there are so many more. The are legion. Mike Adams, Food Babe, David Wolfe, Mercola, flat earthers, 9/11 truthers, anti-vaxxers etc. These people, and their quackery NEVER had the ability to spread as they have before social media.

How I feel about this comes down to whether we think Facebook and Youtube hold monopoly powers. I'm no Alex Jones fan and he 100% did this to himself, but given the shear size of these platforms and that essentially they're the only game in town I think that should weigh heavy on how much we celebrate censorship by them (not just as it relates here, but in general).

Nice try. Isn't it funny how conservatives seem to forget private property rights and suddenly support overbearing regulations when their hate speech is socially censored and boycotted off of private platforms??
 
It would be great if it wasnt neccesary but when a large enough portion of a population is ready to believe that Hillary is an interdimensional space demon, chemtrails, space demon posessions of dems having sex in large pits of feces, free speech must be narrowed down at least until the psychosis wears off.

Platforms and venues must be held accountable by their customers and advertisers to not tolerate the promotion of batshit and hate. Batshit and hate has always been legal and should remain so. But social pressure should be used to drive it back into the closet by refusing to provide it with free and/or easy platforms. Let it provide itself with a platform and venue.

There was no Facebook, no Twitter, No YouTube, no INTERNET when most posting here were growing up. Somehow we all survived. No one is entitled to any of that shit in the year 2018... You aren't entitled to any platform you did not build yourself...
