I agree with you, but I also don't think that Apple is going to put out an iPhone that is going to only get a few handful of hours of use on a charge. Most people can go the entire day, sometimes 2 without charging.

Yep, during the week I can go all day without charging but do end up needing to charge when I go to bed. I don't have to charge at all over the weekend. The only variance is the amount of exchange email traffic I have coming/going for work. In contrast, my EVO had to be charged by lunch during the week.

I remember in the last few months reading something about Qualcomm (maybe) having LTE radios that don't consume as much power becoming available to manufacturers this summer. It might not have been qualcomm and I may have just made that up, but i'm pretty sure i didnt.

I'd say a guy can dream, but you've already shot that down.

It may not have a 4" screen, but I think it's a given that it'll be 4g though.

It was either verizon or at&t who said recently that all newly released smartphones on their network have to be 4g.

Right and it was also verizon and at&t that wanted phones to have bloatware on them. Apple isn't going to do LTE unless they can get 1) the same battery life as 3G and 2) its on the same chip that does all the other bands that they do.

That's right, and don't you forget it.

Honestly, after using a 3.8" screen for the past year and a half, I really wouldn't mind a 4" iPhone, and with that size screen they could fit in the larger LTE chip and the larger battery to accommodate it

I said it in the "android tablet" thread over in mobile devices, but I'll say it here too.... Apple *will* lose significant sales if they do not move to a larger screen and LTE with their next iPhone update. Those two things are the biggest advantages that Android has and it's growing momentum for them. Just look at all of the latest Android offerings that sell well...Nexus, SG SII, Razr, ect...all large screen phones.

As a current iPhone 4 owner I can say with certaintainty that Apple will lose me to an upgrade to the next Nexus or SG SIII or whatever is out at the time if they don't step up to the plate this fall.

I don't think Apple is losing any significant iPhone sales over to larger screened phones. There's the fact that many people still prefer more compact phones and not mini tablets.

The iPhone 4S showed that well.

I do believe, though, that if Apple went 4", it would help their marketshare tremendously.

Personally, I'd prefer the same 3.5" screen but smaller bezel, and less weight. A 4" screen would just increase weight. I'd feel more nervous about dropping a 4" iPhone if it's any heavier than the iPhone 4...

I understand that. Thats why in my post above I was talking about 4g using less power. I know apple wont put anything out that gets less life than what they have now. I do think that when a new iphone does get released though, it'll be an LTE phone.

They stated it came from Apple's IP block in Cupertino.

The commenter may be right, but what if Apple forgot to do that on the newer iPad? :p Woops!

Haha... I could be a lot of things. Hell I could spoof a fake iPad 3 right now. Hopefully wednesday will be here sooner than later. Just transfered money out of my iPad 3 savings fund to my checking :D

Well, you can spoof your user-agent all you want, but it still won't show up as being from Apple's IP block. :p

I'm still waiting to see if it can tempt me to replace my iPad 2. I still want a 3G (or maybe 4G this time) model. So, I might just wait or avoid the Apple store this time. The AT&T Store, Best Buy or Target (5% off!) might be better.

I decided I could use a tablet around October but that was too late to buy an iPad 2. I've been waiting for a while. I'll probably preorder it. When they did preorders for the 4S I got the phone the day of release.
I'm in the middle of nowhere south Georgia. Best Buy / Target is an hour. Apple Store is 3 :(

If we get a preview of iOS 6 Wednesday, then iPhone 5 is hitting during the summer.

That could be true. iOS 5 was shown off in June last year released in the fall. But I doubt Apple really wants to change their release dates again.

They wouldn't be changing the date. They would be returning it to its original date. If they release a new iPhone in June, the 4S could be regarded as a fluke.

I think you've got it backward.

It'd look at it like this:

Feature / % chance of happening:
--------------------------------------

Siri / 99%
Better Camera / 95%
Retina Display / 85%
Some sort of speed bump (but not A6) / 70%
A6 / 50%
4G LTE / 5%

Wow. I should start an Apple rumors site. My guesses (from January) seem to be pretty much spot on.

I'm still holding out hope for Quad core though.

God, I hope so. The technology for stuff like a watch companion has existed forever. Let's try and get it done right.

It's "The Day After Tomorrow"!

day-after-tomorrow2.jpg

Sorry, couldn't resist.

But really, it's only two days away. I think the force that will hit my wallet will be just as insane as those tornadoes... if Apple comes out and say that the tablet has a super high resolution display. My PDF library can't wait, either.
