rumors confirmed;)

but yea this is insane resolution, finally the thing will be high enough res for decent text handling. get the feeling those games will be internally upscalled but not like it matters with a weak low res textures and rest that are a given.

I haven't seen the retina in person. However, I'm not wowed by this. It's a great device, nice and fast, but none of the apps I use will take advantage of it, nor will most of the new ones coming out in the near future because to require an ipad3 means they lose too many potential buyers. Some graphics may be better but whatevs.

In a way the biggest news out today is confirmation that an entry level ipad can be bought now for $399.

BTW the name new ipad is fvcking idiotic.

books/web browser.

i don't care if angry birds is really 3mp...do you? text is the major issue to solve on such a device, and they finally did it, like it or not all previous tablets were inadequate on that issue.

Anand's analysis

The new 42.5Wh battery is downright huge. To put the new iPad's battery in perspective, this is nearly the same battery capacity as the what was shipping in the 2008 13-inch MacBook Pro. This is also a bigger battery than what's used in the 2011 11-inch MacBook Air:

Preordered my 4S on announce date and I received it the day it said it was suppose to arrive. I'm hoping it works out with the iPad.

Has anyone had their iPad ship?

Nay, says delivers march 16th though. Also, I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should cancel my order or not. Dunno if I really need it...pretty huge impulse buy.

So how long do you think it'll take Best Buy to actually be able to keep these things in stock for longer than 30 seconds?

Judging from past experience, I'd say each Best Buy location would have at most 5-6 counts for each version, so about 100 of them in total. People camped out very very early last time, and if you're not there by... say... at least the night before, then I guess forget it.

I was lucky enough to be get the last 2 iPad 2 last time at our local store. This time around, I learned my lesson, so I'm not going to camp out.

Will just sit back, sip coffee, wait for UPS/FedEx to knock on door, and have camera in hand for some shots on that day.
