I'm for doing everything needed to help the US then immediately help the rest of the world, especially our closest neighbors in the Latin American and Caribbean.
That said, I can't believe getting syringes is really a major hold up here. The US uses billions of syringes a year.
And where is this abundant oversupply of syringes exactly when they're being used at a rate unseen prior to this year? Remember, in addition to the vaccine push, the use of syringes vastly increased last year due to the vast increase in hospitalizations from COVID. And I wouldn't be surprised to find out hospital supply lines are set up just like supply lines for the auto industry, for instance.....JIT supply. And JIT will constrain because the mfgr. isn't set up to ramp up production at a moment's notice, esp. not without some additional "push" from someone along with a tad of extra sugar attached.
