Apparently it's easy to re-injure a rotator cuff injury

Many years ago i injured my rotator cuff doing the over head press.
went to therapy. even tho i had insurace, co-pays add up.

re-injured it a few years ago nailing drywall to the ceiling. therapy (again co-pays $).

last year i re-injured it doing military presses. i did the therapy at home. resistance rubber band, and a 5lb weight. same as the therapist office but w/o the co-pays

this weekend re-injured it pushing a 1" x 12" x 16' board on top of a van.
it was just 1 board.

side of shoulder hurts now.. damn it...

After an injury, it's never really something you forget about. You've gotta do some sort of stretching/strengthening for it from that point forward. A lot of the time, people just forget about their stretches and go back to what they were doing before. The problem is what they were doing before is what caused it. Take it easy, ice it a bit, use a lacrosse ball or foam roller to massage it lightly, and after a few days stretch it a little bit. You should then get back into some of the same exercises you were doing before, but light and work from there. Does the pain feel the same and is it in the same location as before?
 
yes the pain is from the same location. more annoying than anything else.
doing the resistance band/5lb weight excersices now.

in 3-4 weeks it should get better based on history

This is good advice. It's very easy to forget about continuing to strengthen the area once it gets better and then it reinjures itself.
 
I have had both rotator cuffs injured. I need to do some exercises a few times a week or they will start to bother me again.
