FYI, marriage is not about some guy standing in front of you and telling you that you're married, it's about:

Standing in front of your family and friends (and God for some), and swearing (not cussing) to dedicate the rest of your life in partnership with someone else.

There are a number of legal/cultural/societal implications that go along with making that commitment. BTW, it's not about being "willing to" make the commitment, it's about "doing" it.

And about the "being christian", it means that you believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God. Yes, there's a lot of baggage that goes with that

Just my $.02

Two points:

1) "Christian" most literally means "little Christ." That definition implies a certain attitude and outlook on life. Those who name Christ as Lord are challenged to look at life in a certain way, the way that Christ does. See Philippians 2:1-11. Hence a sincere Christian looks past surface issues and gets into "being" rather than "doing."

2) Historically, Christianity is a belief system with a two-thousand year old consistency in core beliefs. If you intellectually assent to the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed, you are by belief system and historical definition a Christian, regardless of what you do.

It seems to me that #1 is more important than #2, but both should be affirmed before one attaches the label "Christian" to someone.

By definition #1, perhaps few who call themselves Christian are consistently of the mind of Christ. Some who do not call themselves Christian may be much closer to Christ.

By definition #2, many professing Christian churches are no longer Christian. If one changes many of the core beliefs that have defined "Christian" for two millenia, then the label "Christian" is so loose and tenuous as to be reduced to meaninglessness.

But I think God wants us to be "little Christs," where Christ's divine life fills us and transforms us. "To the pure, all things are pure."

P.S: Red Dawn is the only satanist I know :)

You must have 1 in your heart before 2 is possible.

as far as i'm concerned, if you believe jesus christ was the son of god, you're christian.

Satan believes Jesus is the son of God... It's not about believing, it's about a relationship. I used to be all into secular music, but they all seem really bad now. Maybe I'm just not listening at the right places. As far as the sex before marriage, sex is a gift from God, something wonderful that is a reward when we get married.
