LOL I'm talking to this girl online, about music and stuff...she told me she doesn't listen to music that swears or talks about violence, christian rock like Linkin Park, POD and Creed are the way to go....she says I am not christian because I listen to satanists? I asked her what groups she was talking of...she was like, oh Eminem, Britney Spears, anyone that swears isn't christian, anyone that doesn't live the christian lifestyle is a satanist, anyone that has sex before marriage is a satanist, and so on and so forth...wow. I don't have much else to say about her lol

sorry about that last post...I switched back to my IM with the girl and accidentally hit post

True Christianity refers to your relationship with Jesus Christ, not the music you listen to.

im a christian and i listen to all music.
(REAL christian.. not just going to church once in a while)

there are some very conservative ones out there.. don't let them get to ya. they can't help it

Yes. HotChic said it the best.. it's about the relationship you have with Christ, your mindset. Being Christian DOESN'T mean you're perfect. It's all about striving to be.

Will you tell my dad that?

I wasn't under the impression that Linkin Park was a Christian band. Also, Creed and POD aren't proclaimed Christian status bands either, they just have some members that are more or less aligned with that theology, but they do not use the music as a tool of worship or praise as is the status quo in "Christian" bands. Regardless of musical preference, this girl seems like a bit of a dunce to me.

Christian literally means Christ Like.

He spent his limited time in the midst of robbers and theives, prostitues and pagans. He taught us to see the good in everything and try and change for the better what we can.

"All men fall short of the glory of God." That includes her.

Swearing does no one any good. Sex outside of marriage is not only bad for a relationship but can be deadly.

Sounds like you and her need a reality check.

haha the conversation continues...apprently, if your a true christian, you must try to get all non-christians to be christian, preach about the bible, etc...umm...isn't a part of christianity acceptance of others?

I don't do either of those things. But swearing is just words. How is it so terrible? And as for sex, people make WAYY to big a deal out of it. People are designed for it. How is is so terrible if you do it with proper protection?

What is the difference between satanic and devil worshipping? I am pretty sure there is a difference, I just don't know what.

Also, why the hell does she think those bands are religious? I know Creed sells themselves as Christian and POD does as well, but Linkin Park? Where did that come from?

POD was under a Christian label until they got big and needed a bigger label. Creed you are right... doesn't sing Christian messages but sometimes the meanings can be taken with a Christian slant and if you ask them if they are christians, I'd almost guarentee they'd say yes. (the lead singer is the son of a preacher)

Lifehouse is another band like them.

When did LP turn into Christian rock? And for god's sake - Creed is not a Christian band - they've said it over and over again. Would a Christian band say "god damn" in one of their songs?

Hail fellow "born-again heretic."

Who's like us? Damn few.

Hellz....Some of Michael W. Smith's and Carman's songs would qualify as "violent." There's more to it than what the lyrics say, and there's more to your religion than the music you listen to, and many aspects of just WHAT the Christian lifestyle are are hard to define for anyone other than one's self.

But I digress.

If you have a relationship with Christ, there's joy in that. Why wouldn't you be eager to share where you found joy? But that's not what makes you Christian, it's a result. If people don't want to hear about it, okay, live your life your way and let them live theirs. Christ said nothing about forcing or irritating people into knowing him, he just instructed his followers to share the news about him. He told his followers to leave alone people who didn't want to hear his message and to shake the dust from their feet of the towns that weren't interested. In other words, no Bible bashing people over the head.

You can always tell a Christian by the way they condemn things, just like their religion tells them not to. :D Just kidding

Is it just me or does it look like that singer is lip synching (sp?)? He looks really little to have a deeper voice like that. Maybe I am thinking of the wrong band or something, but he is the one with blond hair who sing that "If I could, then I would" or however it goes song? Maybe I'm crazy. Music sucks these days. We need to just leave lyrics out of it and just have some music.

Agreed. POD's earlier music (which musically was much more rockin, IMHO) had more of a Christian edge to it, but they are in the same boat as MxPx and ZAO, other bands on Christian labels with Christian members, but not using the music as a religious tool, just a form of artistic expression. (MxPx was formerly on Tooth an Nail, home to many of this genre of psuedo Christian rock. ZAO is on Solidstate, a division of Tooth and Nail)

Swearing.. Hmm.. Doesen't everbody swear? :p Like others have said.. They're just words..

As far as sex outside of marriage.. Why would it be bad for a relationship? And how in the world could it be deadly? You mean STDs? Hmm...

I dunno. I have a very strong belief system, even though I wouldn't consider myself a Christian. Afterall, Jesus proclaims that all organized religion is an abomination..

Anyway.. I've always kinda felt that the no sex before marriage thing was kinda weird... I mean.. I dunno, It's hard to explain. I'm not saying that it's right to just sleep with whoever, whenever..

But with my girlfriend, for example.. We're not ready for marriage yet.. We do plan on getting married.. But not yet.. We're not ready yet..

You can't tell me that we're bad people because we chose to share such a wonderful experience with eachother.. before we stood infront of some guy.. who has us say that we love eachother and kiss. :disgust: :p
