That may the dumbest post yet.

Right so I guess CBS strapped you to a chair and taped your eyelids back during halftime then?

Good grief.

Use that grey matter in your skull for once.

How in the world would it have been possible to change the channel before it happened? Are we all psychic now?

The act happened rather quickly. Not everyone keeps their remote in their hand. Not everyone can jump in front of the screen blocking the view from their kids in a nanosecond.
look its been argued throughout this thread that the overtones of the entire halftime show, with the girls and the grinding and suggestive music, maybe you should have changed the channel a long time ago.

This show wasn't called "Something Random on Television" with no rating, with the possibilties ranging from ballroom dancing to the filth at FistingLessons.com.

It was the NFL Superbowl, rated PG. People expected football and a musical half time, not porn like adult enterntainment.

That's just it. I *have* read the entire thread.

It's painfully obvious you haven't or you wouldn't have made that statement to me earlier.

Agreed. And as conjur stated, there were children watching. Regardless of whether you believe that they will be affected or not, that stunt was not something that MOST parents would want their kids to see. Also, even though I am a HUGE JJ fan, I am highly disappointed that she felt it necessary to stoop to those levels to promote her upcoming album.

It was degrading, unnecessary, and ruined an otherwise decent halftime show, IMHO.

As an intersting side note, looks like both Michael and now Janet are known for corrupting children.

I posted this yesterday

Kinda put their arugement into prespesective. eventhough i disagree with it.

Timberlake's words are interesting. "sorry that some were offended", sorry for the equipment malfunction"

He didnt say sorry for doing it in the first place, and I believe that the equipment malfunction was that only one side came off. From the design of the outfit it looks like both sides were to come off.

Do you think she was wearing a nipple medalion on her left breast?

They show people getting shot all the time on TV, but one 2 second image of a human being naked and everybody throws their arms up. Lighten up a little.

You seem to be forgetting one MAJOR thing. Those shows are rated as such, so parents have the control over whether or not they want their children watching. The superbowl was NOT rated for such an image.

Yeah, because when I'm watching the superbowl, I'm usually concerned about the rating of the half time show. If I'm watching the super bowl folks... it's not for the halftime show... believe it or not... some people watch the super bowl for reasons other than, commercials, half time show, or the national anthem, suprisingly there is a game in there that I pay attention to. I think nudity was totally appropriate for the event, nothing against the ladies of the forum, but I see football as a mans sport, and I would have been probably more disturbed about Justin Timberlakes penis being exposed as opposed to Janet Jacksons breast.

Prime time television or not, east coast or west coast... how many shows do you look at the rating of before you watch them? if you look at all of them, I consider that quite anal.... if you look at any of them, that's anal. Those of you trying to cover up last nights event due to your children.... half of them have probably already seen it, possibly even experienced it. What's your point in shelterting them? so it's that much more earth shaking the next time something like this occurs? Rehersed or not, it happened, are your children scarred for life? If anything I hope that if I had a son, he'd be like "whoa, that was awesome" rather than "oh.... my.... god... that was like totally offensive"

Man sport. Halftime show for mans sport. The only thing that could have possibly made that halftime show better was to have a football game between the victoria secret super models in lingerie.

I was more irked by the inclusion of Justin Timberlake and Pimp Diddy. It's pretty sad that the best halftime performer was a redneck wearing a flag.

Plus all the songs were so old.

It was definitely staged, what were they expecting with getting MTV to produce the show. I wish they would just fess up

Am I still the only one that that was more concerned about watching Nelly stroke a stiffy every 2 seconds? It was damn near masturbation.

Here's the text from that page:

Janet Jackson's Super Bowl Show Promises 'Shocking Moments'

HOUSTON ? The Super Bowl means just as much to the entertainment world as it does to those who follow sports.

As the big game approaches, one of the top questions along with "Who's going to win?" is "What will Janet Jackson be doing at the halftime show?" But Janet isn't the only celebrity cutie who'll be catching eyes during the MTV-produced AOL Top Speed Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime performance Sunday. Jessica Simpson has just been added to the festivities.

MTV's 12-minute program will commence with a short film, and then one half of the world's most popular newlyweds will call for the party to start. From there the Houston native will hand it over to fellow hometown favorites Texas Southern University and the University of Houston. The TSU Ocean of Soul marching band and the UH Spirit of Houston Cougar marching band will unite as one, coming with their instruments blaring and feet stomping, leading the way for Ms. Jackson.

Although the bands have different styles ? with TSU moving with a pump-and-drive, high-knee marching style and U of H using the more traditional heel-to-toe method ? they've been able to meet in the middle.

"It's working out fine," affirmed TSU Band Director Richard F. Lee. "We have two different styles but we move the same distance at the same time; eight steps every five yards." Lee and UH band director David Bertman will share the reins on Sunday.

After seeing videotapes of the bands, Jackson was eager to work with both squads so she could bring something new to the table for her halftime performance.

"Me and Janet thought it would be great to change one of our numbers and introduce a drum line into our routine," Jackson's choreographer, Gil Duldulao, said Tuesday. "This is different because I know a lot of band members aren't dancers. So I'm happy to have the time beforehand to teach and sort of lead them in the direction that I feel is perfect for what we're doing onstage."

Janet will be backed by 26 dancers, 360 regular band members and a 60-person drum line. Each school has an equal amount of people playing.

"I don't think the Super Bowl has ever seen a performance like this," Duldulao added. "The dancing is great. She's more stylized, she's more feminine, she's more a woman as she dances this time around. There are some shocking moments in there too. It's a lot of pressure, there's so many creative people and creative artists, you want to make sure everything is different, and I think she's going to do that. She's doing her job well."

In addition to Jackson and Simpson, P. Diddy, Nelly and Kid Rock will also perform at halftime.

Hangin' in H-Town ? News and Notes From the Super Bowl:
? Nelly is one of the flyest rappers in the game, but he doesn't like to fly. His tour bus pulled into Houston early Wednesday morning, completing the journey all the way from Los Angeles. Don't expect P. Diddy to travel like his Midwestern friend. Diddy, who's known for his affinity for jets, is scheduled to arrive in Houston Wednesday to rehearse with his "Shake Ya Tailfeather" co-star. The pair have a few tricks up their sleeves for the halftime bonanza, one of which is a remix like you've never heard before.
? Kid Rock isn't kidding around when it comes to his workload. Even though the boisterous bad boy has been on tour, Kid has still been making time to practice for Sunday's big show. The hip-rocker has a concert Wednesday night (January 28), but he'll shake off any fatigue and hit Houston on Thursday for his next round of rehearsals.
? There's going to be some serious partying going on in Houston this week. P. Diddy, Beyoncé, R. Kelly, Cam'ron, Snoop Dogg, Dame Dash and the Roc-A-Fella family, Russell Simmons, EA Sports, Magic Johnson, Lil' Flip and Janet Jackson are just a few of the names throwing fiestas this week.

Super Bowl XXXVIII will air live from Houston's Reliant Stadium on Sunday. Coverage begins at 9 a.m. ET with the special "MTV's TRL at the Super Bowl."

For more on the weekend festivities, check out MTV Super Bowl Weekend.

Superbowl 1/2 times should be filled with rock music anyway, sicne when was it made for the crowd who watches this crap?

are you saying that only rock fans enjoy football?
well I'm saying a good portion does, but for the last 7 or 8 years it's been crap that only pleases teens and pop kids who only care about the commercials and the 1/2 time show, maybe it's time for a show for the good ol boys again.

quite frankly real "good ol boys" are probably football fans that could probably care less about the half-time show. half time is time to take a leak grab a sandwich and another beer.

Don't get me wrong, i thought the half-time entertainment stunk as well, but i also believe that it doesn't have to be tailored to the tastes of one group of fans. Football fans come in all flavors with different tastes in music. why should the "good ol boys" (white males I assume) be catered to more than others? I forget the year but they had Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Mary J Blige and a boy band doing the halftime show. Not being a fan of any of those artists I still found it to be entertaining and well produced unlike the tripe they rolled out this year.
I said "A" as in 1, not "More" :)

I can't believe this thred has scores to almost 300 posts in less than 12 hours over a fscking boob. Both camps are being dumbasses, although I do liike the comment about the people bitching about this being so uptight that they should sh!t out diamonds.

Obviously what would be considered assault during any football or hockey game doesn't bother you, but the little stunt does?

Whhop de do

The fact that you people keep posting about this even though neither camp is going to change their view amuses me greatly. When will you people learn?

I'd say just the opposite....MANY people watch the SB that don't normally watch football. They watch for the spectacle, the commercials, and the halftime show.

This years halftime was lame, even with the boob. The best in recent memory was a couple of years bvak with Aerosmtih, Britney, Nelly, etc.

After reading the ENTIRE thread, it's painfully obvious that there are two sets of opinions: The parents, or people who are mature enough to think from a parents' point of view, and the non parents. It's also painfully obvious that parents such as conjur and thepresence could very well be arguing with people half their age. I'm not even going to bother with responding to anyone in this thread, due to the idiotic repetition of responses that will sure to be posted.

The overall summary: CBS, MTV, and the NFL's reputations are now tarnished by a slut named Janet Jackson, and her wigger accomplice Timberflake. It was inappropriate and highly distasteful to show a bare T!T on TV, you will not even see this on MTV (and if you have, it's most likely NOT a common occurence because my little cousins watch it all the time). It's against the FCC's regulations to have a PG rated show turned R, I don't give a flying fvck what you Europeans have to say, if you think that it's right, then GET THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY. We have rules here that are to be followed.

Many of my coworkers said that luckily their kids did not see this fvcking trash that is to be called the halftime show. I agree with them. We don't have sluts in the mall walking around with their T!T out, do we? How about in the gym? Better yet, another public place, the park?

These fvcking artists are always trying to push the envelope, and guess what, they went too far this time. What's on next year's agenda? Britney showing her crotch? Would you geeks be ok with this? Of course you would, cuz you haven't had p*ssy in, let's say, your whole life. Now I finally see where you're coming from!

Last but not least, any woman who did this in the states that I've lived in (NJ, NY, VA, MD, DE, and yes even WV) would be arrested for indecent exposure and corruption of a minor (if a male had ripped it off in front of kids). That's what makes this country so great, is our first amendment rights. But that's also why we have LAWS.

Kudos to all the parents who know how to raise their kids the right way, and understand that kids should be able to enjoy their childhood before growing up. To all the non parents who think this was an acceptable act: One day, you will reach a level of maturity and empathize. That is all, back to your regular scheduled immature geekspeak where omg, b00bs are sooooooo cool!!!!!! Yeah dude!!!!!!
