someone asked something important and everyone is ignoring it. The apollo rebate is for the 2150U printer while the Staples deal is for the 2150 printer (without the "u") are these two separate printers?? All you guys who say you got your rebates did you all have this problem also??

read the third post by tarobap
its the same printer--just another way to show thats its usb compatible

I got in on this hot deal 6 months ago and it was a H3llish experience. Worst hot deal ever! Staples messed everything up. I don't think it is worth it. Too much work! :|

yeah what the heck
i did this, not for any reason other than it seemed like a good deal for a printer and a scanner.

be warned, i got this in like February and never received the rebate... i should call these hooligans.

also, the printer isn't w2k compatible, if thats a concern to you. boy was i surprised. i basically kept both in the original box until a month ago, when i upgraded to xp, and noticed a patch for an xp driver. i was like, woah! pretty cool. the scanner works ok, but its nothing great. doesn't have the newer features, like copy and stuff like that. you just basically plug it in and pray the software works itself out. the printer? well, its still in the box b/c i felt no need to hook up another printer

I am still waiting for my apollo rebate from the last deal on this... rerbatestatus says it was mailed on 11/30... No sign of it yet.....

Maybe as a cost cutting measure they've started mailing the rebates on microdot film. Start checking your mail with a sieve 😉

FYI - For those of you who have not received your $40 from a previous Staples deal after 9/1/2001 or have just purchased the deal in this thread, Apollo no longer honors purchases from Staples on their "generic" $40.00 rebate form. You must use the Staples rebate form if you purchased from and you cannot submit both. While you could submit both in the past, Apollo changed the terms of their rebate on 9/1/2001 and have updated their promotions page accordingly. If you have questions about the generic $40 and Staples eligibility you can call the Apollo rebate center at 1-800-272-4274. Also here is a link to the Apollo product promotions page that list the specific rebate for each participating store. Current Apollo Rebates

GetReal,

where did you get that info? I looked at $40 rebate carefully, nothing about "Staples" in it. I gonna try--ordered it already.

Call the rebate center at the number above and then look at the rebate form matrix on the Apollo site. Continental Promotions Group (The Phonix AZ rebate address) no longer will accept Apollo purchases from Staples. You will get a post card telling you you need to file your rebate will Staples.

I am dealing with an Apollo 2150U rebate right now - I am on the phone with them as I write this. I am in the 12th week of the Apollo rebate stalling process. They assigned a check number 5 weeks ago, and it was supposed to have been sent out 4 weeks ago. Since then, each rep has bullsh*tted me about the date it went out (they now claim 11/30), and now they claim that they had my address entered incorrectly, even though I corrected the slight address error verbally with them 2 months ago, long before the check was allegedly cut. Now they're telling me that since I hadn't received the check, their ONLY option is to start the process over again, which means 6-8 weeks, from the beginning. The 'team leader' claims that "the process is automated and there is no way to cut a check manually." These a**holes are using every stall tactic in the book - don't buy anything with the Apollo name on it, unless you enjoy getting royally screwed.

I am filing a complaint with the FTC today, but does anybody have a contact number for dealing with Apollo rebates, other than the 877-295-4920 number?

Justincase - That is the same BS that they tried on me. I purchased the Apollo combo in April and sent the rebates the same day that I received the shipment from Staples. Three months later when I called to check on my rebate they said that my address was invalid and I would have to wait another 12 weeks ! I use pre-printed address labels for all rebate forms andhave received hundreds of other rebates using the same label so I know it was not invalid. I finally received my rebate in October, but not after they tried to reject it agan becase it was purchased a Staples. The only reason that I ended up getting my rebate was that I told tem that I purchasd the combo in April some five months before they change the rules. Six months and 5 phone calls for $40 SUX🙁

I bought this deal back on 6/20 and received the $40 rebate on 9/22.

Can I do this again?

New deal, new purchase time period, essentially a way to get a free ink cartridge?

Ouch - 5 months? That does suck, GetReal. I purchased mine from Staples Direct on 9/14/01, and they validated it...the 'team leader' also said that there is no problem with any of the materials I sent in. Do you know approximately when they changed the Staples rule, justincase I run into that issue?

Cmon guys. I want this deal, but not if I can't get the $40 also.... I need a printer for my parents as thers just went belly up. LEt me know what you all think. -TAL

Tal - you're better off with an Epson...if you really want to keep costs down to near-zero, wait for another Epson 480SXU deal; it should be anywhere from $0-$20, and it's better than the crappy Apollo, though it is fairly slow...otherwise, keep your eyes open for a cheap HP or Epson printer - they come along all the time. I got my Epson 780 free, and then sold it and got my Epson 785epx for a net zero cost (both transactions involved EBAY, and rebates).

look like the deal went cold. May have to change the title.
Tal, the printer is not a good one.

At staples, there is also a Lexmark Z42 "438189" + D-link USB Web Carmera "441194"

Before buying the bundle and going through h***, I attempted a little CYA.

First, I call HP and got tranferred to Apollo (1-877-692-7655). No option to talk with someone in sales. I hung up, dial the 877#, and this time talked with someone in tech support. I could immediately tell this guy had his fill of people like me. Kept telling me he couldn't answer my rebate questions. Finally, went on the website, found a link to email, and sent a message.

Overall, this is like spitting into the wind.

I don't mind long waiting, but can anybody call Apollo to see if they won't honor rebate bought from staples? Not lunch time yet. If not, I will cancel my order. I don't need spare scaner and 4th printer.
