But is this DVD player region free? Can it be hacked?

And does it play everywhere? 110-220 Volts?

No DVD player sold in US throughretail channel is region-free. Consult dvdrhelp.com to see if this model can be hacked.

Apex DVD players seems to have pretty high rate of failure after six months or so. I've had an Apex AD3201 and AD1200. One died after 6 months, other after 8 months. My old Pioneer DV500 is years old and still plays DVDs fine and the Apexs are now replaced with a Panasonic S35. Saving few bucks is not worth the frustration of unreliable players.

I bought one of these at Sears yesterday for $35 AR. Pretty nice player, much quieter and probably more responsive than my old Pioneer player, *except* on eject. The Apex takes a while to eject the tray and sometimes starts back up instead. However I wasn't too bothered by it and all my DVDs/SVCDs play fine.

i picked one up at CC the other day. the only ones out now are AD1201 which replaced the 1200... the 1201 has 2 or 3 different variations--- one clones the Apex 1100w with a different shell and the other is a completely different model... most the ones at CC seem to be the new model not clone---they play vcds, svcds-- doesnt support macro i think....and works fine--- at the moment, i do not think it is hackable yet. CC reps will tell you it doesnt play vcds but from what i've heard, 99% of them do... just test it and if it doesnt, got try another one or another store.

I think you bumped an old post.
Rebate expired last week
$45 now still not bad though
