apartment dwellers

what do you do when you order items? its obviously not safe to let them leave it at your door when you're not home.

Does your apartment complex have a central office? When I had an apartment, the delivery guys would always leave my packages at the office if I wasn't there.

Luckily we have a concierge at my place. Before moving into this place though I would just have everything sent to my work, not sure if that is viable for you.

Fedex leaves them at my door(2nd floor, not visible unless you walk up the steps). UPS gives them to the apt office. Otherwise they leave a note and you go to their hub and pick it up after hours.

Leave it in the manager's office, unless its the USPS, they just give you a note telling you to pick it up or reschedule delivery for another day that you won't be there.

I live in the safer part of boston. i have never had any of my packages stolen when it was left in the front. When I lived in Jamaica Plain, it was the same.

I used to have packages left at the manager's office. However, because of "liability" reasons, the manager will no longer do that. Now packages are just left at my door. Although my apartment complex is gated and not open to general public (in theory).

Anything large or expensive I have delivered to work. Most credit card companies will allow you to add a secondary address to your credit card so vendors that want to verify the address can do so.

I'm fortunate enough that we're allowed to receive personal packages at work, so I always get things sent here.

My stuff gets delivered to work. Add your workplace to your credit co. addresses, and everything can flow there.

Since I don't have a doorman/front desk at my building, I have my packages delivered to the office.
And I always have to remember to mentally add $15 to the cost of anything I order (if it is large) for the cab ride with it home. :|
