We own a '96 Camry LE v6, and it's not slow. They had superchargers through TRD available for their SUV = 4runner (D'oh!) and such, not sure if they have kits for the camry. Like others said, it's not a sports sedan like the Maxima or Accord are anyway. But, the v6 does move. The 4cyl... bleh... give up on it. Wouldn't be worth it.

FWIW, I call ours the Gramry. Mostly for the blandness of everyhing. That said, I think it's a great car, just not a 'sporty' car.

Maybe you can try some mylar accents, pinstripes, chrome wheel covers, and a dual exhaust tip. Should add about 50 HP.

Yep. There are also "Honda Factory Performance" which even sounds laughable. Let's be honest. It's a Camry, which has pretty decent get-up-and-go for an inexpensive sedan.

Not the 4 cylinders! I test drove a '99 4 cylinder with an automatic transmission a few months ago and the thing was AWFUL. It felt slower than my 93 sentra with 110 horsepower (5 speed) - and that's probably because it was slower. It was so thouroughly unimpressive I felt sick driving it.

You could start by learning more about your car.

Can you forgive mistyping?
Anandtech is not very forgiving with a lot of things. They're just ribbing ya ;)

But seriously don't touch that car. Save your money and in time dump it and buy something faster - like american muscle or if you like japanese cars get the Maxima like Yield said. It's universal fact that you can't go wrong with a maxima.

Any 4 banger Camry is slower the molasses in January. What dogs. I drove my parents' quite a bit on our last vacation. OH MY GOD it had no pickup at all, and its a 5-speed. Makes my Accord feel like a Corvette by comparison. In conclusion, don't touch the Camry. Leave it be. You can make a Honda reasonably fast but its not even worth it for the Camry.

FYI-I believe there is a TRD supercharger for the 3.0L V6 found in Camrys.

So sorry, I didn't realize this was one of those deadly serious threads on Camry hot-rodding. My bad.

I have a '95 Camry LE 4-banger 4-speed auto and it is by no means slow. I have no trouble getting around town or dusting other cars on the freeway.

Heh. The 11 second 0-60 time of my '94 Camry 4 banger isn't exactly awe inspiring :D

My Camry is nowhere near 11 seconds to 60 MPH. It's much closer to 9 seconds from my own stopwatch (with the transmission set to "Power"). But then again, breakneck speed isn't my focus all the time.

By the seat of my pants there is no pickup at all. I can be at 2000 or 5000 rpm and that motor pulls the same; it doesn't. Go drive an Accord, even my old 91. You feel the power coming from 3000 to 5500 rpm.

nice to see that NFS4 isn't just a benchmark racer. he lives life one quarter mile at a time.
